After A Total Embarrassment Against Atlanta, The Packers Season Looks Over Already And I Have No Idea Why Matt LaFleur Is Still The Head Coach

We're just three weeks into the Packers season and I think I can confidently say this team ain't it. I don't really think it's an exaggeration to say the season is over. You simply cannot win football games with this bad of an offensive line and you really can't fix that on the fly mid-season. 

I'm a big Jordan Love defender, but even he sucked tonight. With that being said, it's not shocking he's off his game when he has such little time to throw. Even on the rare snap where can breathe, he's not settled because of what he's used to dealing with. I just don't know how this is supposed to turn around unless he becomes superhuman. How many QBs are 2-1 with this poor of a blocking scheme? There are four backups starting right now. You're just dead on arrival with that being reality. 

On top of a god awful o-line you have a non-existent run game. While Josh Jacobs is sidelined on the Commissioner's List (very deserved), the running back committee they're left with is MarShawn Lloyd, Kaleb Johnson, and Chris Brooks. You're not going to get any balance with that personnel. 

And of course Matt LaFleur is still at the helm. He absolutely didn't deserve an extension in the offseason and after this embarrassment he has no business being the team's head coach. When you really chop it down he's just a beta loser of a coach with zero balls. 

Whenever the team gets momentum he dials up back to back runs like he did on the opening drive to start the 2nd half. Love drove them down to Atlanta's 16 yard line down 10. What did the Packers play-caller draw up? Back to back MarShawn Lloyd runs for minimal gain. 

After a short pass to Watson to set up 4th and 1, LaFleur called for play action, leading to a momentum shifting turnover on downs. 

You know who you fool with that play fake when you have zero run game and Chris Brooks is the run game? Absolutely nobody. Why they've gone away from the Tucker Kraft tush push on down and distances like this I have no clue. Neither does Jason Kelce. 

Love had nowhere to go with the ball and threw it helplessly into the end-zone for a turnover on downs. Just awful coaching. 

Now has Jordan Love played well this season? Since the start of the 4th quarter in Minnesota the answer is no. Are people who desperately want him to fail throwing a parade here? Of course. With that being said, I genuinely wonder how many QBs in the league are making it work and thriving behind this bad of an offensive line. He hasn't been accurate and has looked skittish even when he has time (rarely), but most of the time we're talking less than a second to find your guy. Whatever the fuck this was can't happen across the board. Protection, decision making, you name it. Want to sum up the Packers offense right now? Watch this play. 

He needs to be better, but I don't think it even matters. If things don't drastically change with the protection he won't survive half the season. Good thing Matt is on top of it. 

This was their first home opener loss since 2012. It's the largest home loss in the LaFleur era. They can't block. Can't run. The defense got picked apart tonight. Love is off. Yeah I'm slamming the panic button through the fucking table. Why should Stenovich have a job? How does Gute get away with going into the year with this bad of an o-line that everyone told you was a problem? The only good parts of this team are Matthew Golden and Christian Watson. If LaFleur hadn't gotten the extension in the offseason there's no way he's the coach tomorrow, but of course he did so he's likely here for the whole year at minimum. Packers fans who wanted him gone after the Bears loss were told they were dumb and couldn’t find a better option. Now what? Who looks stupid now? Packers fans because they’re stuck with him.

Good thing they have their first round pick next draft, oh wait…
