Baker Mayfield Cites Headset Issues In Addition To Turnovers As Issues For Buccaneers Offense In Loss

The Buccaneers and Baker Mayfield were not good enough in Cincinnati to come away with the opening day win. But in addition to the four lost fumbles, the Bucs newly inked signal caller had some other issues which certainly didn't help the situation.

In his postgame presser, Baker said that his inner helmet communication system that receives playcalls was cutting in and out for a majority of the game.

The Buccaneers do have a new Offensive Coordinator in Zac Robinson and while the system for the most part is the same as the past two years with Liam Coen and Josh Grizzard, communicating with a new co-worker isn't always extremely smooth in your first time with live bullets.

And while the delayed playcalls didn't help with being able to identify any pre-snap indicators, as it would take longer to get the playcalls, and therefore left less time for pre-snap motion and reads, that isn't an excuse. Tampa Bay needs to be better at holding onto the football and I am certain that they will.

Next on the schedule; a team Baker has had circled since the schedule was released, the Cleveland Browns.
