Tim Curry has been sick for a long time, but this still stings pretty hard.
Curry had an impressive theater career before taking is stage performance to the big screen with 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show'. Possibly the textbook example of a movie with a cult following, it's had such staying power and influence over musicals, actors, performances even now. Something I didn't know until just reading it now, it's the longest-running theatrical release in film history as it's been in limited release since 1975. And that movie does not exist without Curry or his larger than life performance.
You more likely met him as a kid in 'Home Alone 2' as the perfectly cast concierge of the Plaza Hotel or 'Muppet Treasure Island' where he played Long John Silver. Or maybe as a young teen watching 'Scary Movie 2'. But the less fortunate watched 'It' at too young an age and were traumatized by his incredibly scary rendition of Pennywise the clown.
An even more eclectic performance you may be familiar with his his video game work, like his voice role in Dragon Age: Origins or his often posted Command & Conquer clips.
Curry was a phenomenal multi-hyphenate entertainer that was incredible in just about every aspect of the business he touched. My thought go out to him and his loved ones.
