Cam Young Absolutely BOMBED His Way To A Big Hairy American Players Championship Win

CAMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a fucking comeback win and what a tournament, through and through. An awesome reminder of what makes this tournament special. There's not a finishing set of holes as dramatic and exciting as TPC Sawgrass and Cam Young passed the test in a big way. Just like I predicted. If I knew Morikawa was going to WD, Cam was my guy the whole way.

Not sure if you need more evidence to be reading my preview blogs. Hell, we came painfully close to hitting Harman Top 10 too.

Anyways, it looked like a Ludvig Aberg coronation the whole way with him taking a multiple shot lead both into the day and into the turn. But oddly, the cyborg malfunctioned and he totally forgot how to golf for 2 holes. Dude was in the drivers seat in the fairway on the par 5 11th and totally overcooked a cut into the drink. Then he toe hooked his drive on the drivable 12th and got wet. Neither was even remotely close to staying dry and both holes are risk/reward holes where there are all kinds of ways to play it safe with the lead. Guy just seemed a little too juiced up.

That led to a Matt Fitz v Cam Young duel down the stretch, and boy did it deliver. Fitz had a 1 shot lead on 17 tee and hit a safe shot to the middle, basically daring Cam to go out and get him. And boy, did he go out there and get it.

That put Young in the drivers' seat, and boy did he step on the GAS.

Literally the biggest bomb that's ever been bombed on one of the PGA Tour's most iconic tee shots. Only with the tournament on the line, nbd.

Cam leveraged that to a look at birdie that narrowly missed and Matt Fitz had an 8 foot look to match his par, but he also just missed by a smidge to bogey and give Cam Young the tournament.

This is obviously Cam Young's biggest win of his young career. He was your quintessential guy who was close but just couldn't get one across the line before finally getting one at the Wyndham last year. That helped him make the Ryder Cup team where he showed well and now he's leveraged it into a win on the Tour's crown jewel. Could be a floodgates situation.

What a win. What a tournament. Can't wait for the Masters.
