The Baseball Gods Just Blessed The White Sox With The 1st Overall Pick
I'll be 100% honest: I was beyond convinced the White Sox were going to be (rightfully) smited by the baseball gods by getting ping pong balled to the 4th or 5th pick tonight.
Well I'll be goddamned... Though it would have been well deserved considering how they've have acted as an organization for the last two decades, I'm happy to report that, per usual, I was wrong. The White Sox won the draft lottery and will pick 1st next summer:
I've obviously become the biggest cuntbag cynic on earth when it comes to anything and everything White Sox, but this is gigantic for the organization. The kid at the top of draft charts right now is UCLA's SS Roch Cholowsky, who has two things:
1. A sick fucking name that will PLAY with the Pollacks on the South Side and
2. Really, really loud tools. Dude pisses on the baseball and, by all accounts, should stick at SS:
That, and it gives them the most pool space in the draft. The White Sox have a chance to load up their farm pretty good 8 months from now.
The White Sox have a really nice young core building up. Monty showed the Corey Seager comps are still good ones, in spite of his AAA numbers. Kyle Teel is gonna be already a fucking stud backstop. Meidroth, their young arms, Monty II, etc. etc. etc. all look the part and I'd say, assuming he doesn't face plant this season and is the number one pick next summer, that Roch should be a dude who moves quickly through the system and joins them in Chicago sooner than later.
I'm not gonna speak in any hyperbole beyond that. Learned that lesson big time after the Moncada, Eloy, Anderson, Grifol, etc. debacle
Finally some White Sox news to talk about on The Stretch:
