Nico Harrison Has Finally Broken His Silence By Deciding To Take Some Shots At Mark Cuban

For the most part, once Nico Harrison was shown the door and relieved of his duties of running the Mavs, we hadn't really heard much from him. That was probably for the best, because what could he really even say at that point? It's not like he could come out and put out a statement that would change how a single Mavs fan feels about him and what he did. So keeping to yourself and not putting yourself in the spotlight anymore was a decent idea. Out of sight, out of mind ya know?

Well, so much for that! Based on what's being reported right now out of Dallas, it looks like Nico Harrison has now decided to go the opposite route. Instead of keeping a low profile and hoping people would start to forget about what happened, he's instead decided to come out swinging and taking some shots, this time at Mark Cuban.

“Harrison blamed Cuban for what he believed were the Mavs' biggest personnel mistakes during his tenure, which came in summer 2022: allowing Jalen Brunson to get away in free agency and trading for Christian Wood, a player Kidd didn't want to coach and resented having on the roster. Several members of the coaching staff and front office also faulted Cuban for those moves.”

I can't even lie, I spit out my coffee that I was actually drinking when I read that. The lack of self awareness is ASTOUNDING to the point where I think I have to respect it?

Look, letting Brunson leave ended up being a miss. The player that he turned into as a Knick certainly doesn't help, and if I remember correctly, Brunson was willing to play for a 5/55M extension and the Mavs decided against offering it. Whoops! There was also all the family ties to the Knicks and they ponied up the cash, and that's how things go in the NBA sometimes. At the time, this wasn't exactly a Steve Nash 2.0 situation. I could understand the Mavs position in not overpaying for Brunson at that time, it just looks foolish in hindsight.

The Christian Wood part, yeah I can't defend that. Christian Wood stinks. He's stunk at every stop, he puts up empty calorie numbers and from everything we've seen is a locker room and team culture Dementor. So I guess, point to Nico?

But here's the thing.

YOU TRADED LUKA DONCIC FOR NOTHING. THE MAVS ARE LITERALLY TRYING TO TRADE ANTHONY DAVIS AS WE SPEAK.

I'm of the belief that if you are the one spearheading the worst trade in sports history, you do not get to give an opinion on the GM decisions of anyone else. I honestly thought this was NBACentel for a second when I read that Nico thinks the worst moves of his tenure were Brunson/Wood, considering what HE HIMSELF had done. The fact that Nico Harrison also called Christian Wood an important player is equally insane. I'll remind you, even after those two moves by Cuban, the Mavs still made the Finals!

I really just cannot get over the optics of this. Trying to shift blame and focus to Mark Cuban for losing Christian Wood and Jalen Brunson when you're responsible for trading Luka Doncic is so ridiculous, I can't believe it's real. While Brunson turned into a star, that's not who he was in 2022 (to the same level we see today). You know who was? Luka Doncic!

When Nico got canned, I thought it was finally going to be an opportunity for closure for Mavs fans, but now I'm not sure that day will ever come. Just when they're trying to move on and accept that this is once again going to be a lost season thanks to Nico, here he is again saying some wild shit that probably makes that fanbase crash out all over again. When will the madness end?

Perhaps Cuban's biggest mistake wasn't letting Brunson hit the market or losing Christian Wood. In reality, it was hiring Nico Harrison in the first place.
