'He's Motivated By Chet' - Chet Holmgren Winning A Title Is Apparently The Reason Victor Wembanyama Has Been Destroying The League So Far This Year

Well, we know who to blame for this:

It's all this man's fault:

You don't even have to be in the basketball world to know that Chet and Wemby have gone at it while playing for France and USA. They were always linked to each other and now we got ourselves a good old fashioned motivated rivalry. I love it. The NBA has been built on rivalries, I mean Magic vs Bird is what saved this league. Then you had Jordan vs Isiah. So, you know what? Sign me up for two absolute freaks in the Western Conference going at it for the next decade-plus against each other.

The rest of the NBA should be terrified by this. We're in year 3 of Wemby and we're already reaching motivated status. If he stays healthy, we're going to be looking at a terrifying period because the Spurs just find elite talent to win. It's not just the Duncan and Robinson's of the world. They hit on a Manu or Tony Parker or trade George Hill for Kawhi. They know how to build around the elite talent and no-brainer top picks.

It's not exactly a secret that Chet isn't the same player as Wemby. You're talking about a damn good piece on a title team vs an MVP candidate, being the lead guy on a team trying to get there. It's not exactly comparing best to best, but this is what happens when you have two guys who were always regarded as top talent going against each other for 5 years before they even get to the league. I don't want people trying to downplay this because of any reason. I want some good old fashioned individual rivalries back in the sport. Give me Wemby pissed off as Chet does commercials and won a title.
