'Interesting Take' - Lane Kiffin Cooked Brent Venables For Saying Oklahoma Has A Better Team Than Ole Miss, Delivered Prime Steve Spurrier Insults
It's not exactly a secret that Lane Kiffin is liked here. He's entertaining, he's a damn good coach and he provides us with content. So, yeah, we're going to like him. But what I didn't expect was him to turn into prime Steve Spurrier. If you're not old enough to remember prime Steve Spurrier, play the hits:
We need a Steve Spurrier back in our lives. He made college football fun, even as a guy who watched him smoke my team over and over again. He'd just sit there and deliver an all-time quote, no matter who was in front of him. Allow Lane Kiffin to join in on this with his response to Brent Venables saying Oklahoma was still a better team:
Dear God. We're going back to coordinator days. We're bringing in scores and blow outs and reminding him that your offense couldn't be stopped. Sure, it's a little bit of cheating since Kiffin had Alabama/USC, but this is what I want to see. I want to see the guy linked to every single job in the country delivering these types of insults. He finally got a ranked road win, he's going to talk. Not to mention, it's a pretty dumb statement by Venables. I don't think anyone thinks Oklahoma is a better team than Ole Miss. It was a bit shocking when Oklahoma made it a game late because of some dumb stuff Ole Miss did.
Love the buildup and then the pause around the 1:05 mark. You can see him debate whether he should keep going or did he bury him enough. Nope! Gotta throw out coordinator results. And then does it again at 1:15. Wait, I GOT MORE! Perfect response by Lane though. He won the game, he gets the right to say whatever he wants. You can't just claim you were the better team. I mean, I'd love to try to do that, but it doesn't work that way.
