Freddie Freeman Blasts a Walk Off Bomb in The 18th Inning Of Game 3 As The Dodgers Win An All-Time World Series Classic
Six hours and 39 minutes after the first pitch of Game 3 we finally have our winner of this war of attrition. Freddie Freeman blasts one over the centerfield wall to send Dodger Stadium into a frenzy and the rest of us to bed. That was truly an all-time baseball game. It had everything.
Shohei Ohtani reached base for a World Series record NINE TIMES. He broke that record after his 7th trip on the bases, by the way. The Dodgers set a World Series record by using ten pitchers. Dave Roberts threatened to use a position player as his 11th before Yamamoto stepped up and headed out to the pen for a potential 19th inning that never arrived. Seven runners were thrown out on the bases. 89 year old Sandy Koufax was there watching it all happen in front of him. A slightly younger Clayton Kershaw wiggled his way out of a 12th inning bases loaded jam as he came in relief in legendary fashion . You had web gems galore and incredible relays seemingly every inning leading up to extras. Teoscar, Vladdy, Edman, even Varsho running full speed at the wall to end the 15th. We were told these bullpens were a weakness, yet every moment either side seemed destined to break, the big pitch was made. This was a full on display of the two best teams in baseball this year.
I honestly don’t even know how to go about this blog. Let’s be honest you’re not getting Pulltizer Prize stuff here. It’s 3AM on the east coast. I’ve been watching this on my phone on mute for the last 2 hours. Let’s just relive the highlights and remind ourselves how equally awesome and stupid this sport can be.
Early in the game, and by that I mean yesterday, Bo Bichette was picked off at first after the home plate umpire issued the latest strike call I’ve ever seen.
When Toronto allowed Shohei to swing the bat in this game it did not go well. This homer off Max somehow stayed fair despite the ball being so in on his hands. Freak.
As I said before, plenty of runners got gunned out in this one. Barger has the best cannon in the sport and uncorked a missile here.
Just when it seemed like the Dodgers were in control, Alejandro Kirk smashed this go ahead 3 run homer to send a shockwave through Dodger Stadium.
Ohtani started the comeback in the 5th with this momentum shifting double to the wall, cutting the deficit in half.
Freddie did what he does best and tied things up with this clutch knock down the line.
I’m pretty sure Vladdy threw this ball 150 mph.
Bo Bichette pulled the Jays back in front thanks to a wild bounce off the wall. Vladdy was hauling ass and beat the off line throw just in time.
In what was finally the last straw for Schneider, Ohtani blasted the game tyjng homer in the 7th. His fourth hit of the night and second big fly. From that point on it would be walks. If/when they win it all he will be your MVP. +160 was just there for the taking before the series started and I didn’t do a damn thing about it.
This play by Tommy Edman was remarkable. He couldn’t have been a tenth of a second slower otherwise it would have been 1st and 3rd. Instead he reacts as quick as humanly possible and delivers a perfect throw to escape the inning. That’s a championship winning play. The Yankees throw this ball into the stands.
Another runner thrown out at home. Talk about a ballsy send. Gotta take chances for sure, but I don’t know man.

I mean….
Clayton Kershaw had to come in for the 12th with the bases loaded and 2 out. He escaped. Who knows, that could be the final pitch of his career and if it is what a way to go out.
In the 13th Freddie just missed a walk off granny
in the 14th Will Smith thought for sure he ended it only for the ball to be caught at the wall
Eric Lauer did everything he could to keep the game going.
Postseason baseball is about unsung heroes. Guys you’d never expect to make the biggest impacts. How about Will Klein? Before tonight the last time he went 3 or more innings in a game was 2021 in the minors. Tonight he tossed four shutout in extras of a World Series game. His final pitch was the last one the Dodgers would need.
The Dodgers dugout went nuts for their guy as his night ended. What a performance.
What a game. The Manfred man has taken away these marathon wars in the regular season, but they still pop up in October. There’s nothing like the chaos of a never ending extra inning standstill. Euphoria for the Dodgers and relief out of Roberts that he didn’t need to go to Yamamoto. For Toronto it’s absolutely crushing. Simply had to win that game. Now it’ll be a massive uphill climb with Shohei on the mound in Game 4. See everyone later tonight. I’ll be up in three hours to walk my dog because letting my fiancée sleep in seemed like a nice gesture as we got ready for bed.
