The Sweet Science – Floyd Mayweather & Manny Pacquiao Reportedly in Talks For a Rematch That Absolutely Nobody Asked For in 2026

As patently ridiculous as the sweet science has become, in the sense that the biggest draw in the sport is a YouTuber streamer who's seemingly taken up boxing as a part of one big money making troll to the world...

Which doesn't necessarily bother me all too much. But I didn't grow up loving boxing. If I were a true die-hard fan of real professional boxing, I'd imagine something like Jake Paul (6'1", 200 lbs) fight Gervonta Davis (5'5", 135 lbs) would be pretty disheartening. It kinda sucks that legitimate professionals almost never get the attention a guy like Jake Paul does. But as ridiculous as it all is... as much as people love to point fingers at Jake Paul... it's hard to put ALL the blame him when some of boxing's greatest legends are an equally big (if not bigger) part of the circus themselves.

Of all the "nobody wants this" boxing matches that have been forced upon us in recent years, this next one (if it comes to fruition) might take the cake. What on god's green earth are these men doing? Manny Pacquiao is 46-years old. Floyd Mayweather is 48-years old. Floyd Mayweather couldn't possibly be broke again, could he? How could that even happen? Floyd Mayweather earned over $1 BILLION in his boxing career. I couldn't burn through that money if I tried my absolute hardest. Yet Floyd is still out here in his mid-40's, apparently looking to fight both Manny Pacquiao AND Mike Tyson in the upcoming year.

It's like Floyd Mayweather has spent his entire life playing one long game of Brewster's Millions. But he's playing it against himself. And Floyd Mayweather is winning.

Manny Pacquiao on the other hand… I can see him needing to cash another check. He didn't have quite the career Floyd Mayweather did. Manny Pacquiao's career earnings barely even eclipsed the $500 MILLION mark. Of course he would be in need of yet another multi-million dollar payday before he turns 50. On top of whatever he made for fighting 30-year old Mario Barrios to a draw back in July.

But what the hell am I saying? It doesn't matter what financial shape Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are in. Even if all their debts are paid off, and they both have hundreds of millions of dollars in the bank, why wouldn't they sign up for this? Washed up professional boxers fighting exhibition matches decades past their prime is the easiest payday in the world. It might be the only job that pays better than fired college football coach. These guys won't need to put in any serious training leading up to the fight. They just have to show up. All they need to do is drop a couple of, "I'm gonna knock his ass out" quotes to hype up the event.

Post a sped up video of themselves sparring with a tomato can to make people think, "Oh wow! This old man still has some juice!"

Slap each other around a little bit during the weigh-in.

And the millions of people who spent months criticizing them for this disgraceful money grab will tune into Netflix the night of the fight. Afterwards, they'll be wildly disappointed with what they watched (despite knowing exactly how the fight would go all along). Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will both walk away with multi-million dollar checks (and not a scratch on them). Then they'll run the whole thing back when they're in their 50's. Because why wouldn't they? It's printing money.

Can't wait to watch. I'm sure I'll hate it.
