The New York Giants Appear To Have Found A Quarterback And That's All That Matters In Yet Another Lost Season

Welcome back to The Suck, Giants fans! Once again the season is over before Halloween as we try to realize that this year is like pretty much every other year since General Coughlin was dishonorably discharged """retired""" no matter how much it felt like it was going to be different over the first two months.

Now I'm not going to once again blog about why the Giants suck since we know it starts at the top considering that's been the one consistent thing over the years or how we will fix it since I refuse to look at mock drafts before November yet again. Instead, I am going to try to find some positivity a day after the soul of the Giants had his ankle explode as they were once again routed by their biggest rival (h/t to the refs and Shane Bowen for making sure it wasn't close).

I know it's early, but it looks like Jaxson Dart could be A Guy. A Dude. A QB1 who can play, lead, and win in the NFL. Some rookies have looked this way in the past only to fall on their faces and others looked like trash before becoming studs. But the fact of the matter is Dart has been everything I think we could've hoped for when the Giants snagged him late in the first round. Everything about the Giants off the field has felt different since he took over for Russell Wilson and on the field they have actually been consistently moving the ball from week to week despite the team's best weapon going down in the first half of Dart's first start. It hasn't always been pretty but it's undeniably been better and fun, which is all you can really ask for as a rookie QB figures out how to play the toughest position in all of sports on the fly.

Which takes me to my main point of this blog. No matter what nightmares the Football Gods have planned for us the rest of the season, Giants fans should take solace that their team may have found a real deal QB, which is the hardest thing to do in the NFL. His development and health should be the main focuses and take precedence above all else. QB Draws should be outlawed from the playbook and every time Dart doesn't slide on a run, he should be benched for the rest of the drive. Okay, that's extreme, especially since you don't want to harness the things that makes Dart the beautiful maniac we love. But we are getting to the point where I feel like the front office and coaching staff are both going to go into survival mode as they try to save their jobs and they cannot be allowed to jeopardize the future of the franchise.

Speaking of which, it's crazy to say this about a team that has gone 2-6 or 1-7 in 8 of its last 9 seasons, but there are some legit building blocks for the next decision makers to take over outside of just the QB. Outside of quarterback, I'd say the most important positions are left tackle, alpha wide receiver, and edge rusher. The Giants just so happen to have studs at all three spots, as long as they are healthy. There are plenty of things wrong with this roster, which become more evident the moment an injury occurs and the depth is tested after multiple bad drafts. But there are foundational building blocks already here that are locked up under contract for a bit (I think Abdul Carter is going to run away with defensive rookie of the year after inevitable bump following the Giants bye week).

I always say that you need three things at a championship level to win a Super Bowl. A coach. A quarterback. And a kicker. I'm pretty sure we can all agree that the coach and kicker aren't going to cut it. But the quarterback may be able to, which is why it is imperative that the Giants do everything in their power to make sure they don't ruin him or get him killed the rest of this season and just as importantly hire the right decision makers to fill out the front office, coaching staff, and roster around him. Because it's pretty easy to see just how much better a quarterback can look with the right supporting cast.

Sorry I had to do it after years of being told that myself and the Daniel Jones Hype Group were a bunch of lunatics. Find Jaxson Dart a GM that can find the right coach, the right coordinators (NOT JASON GARRETT OR SHANE BOWEN), and the right players to take the Giants out of the Top 10 of the draft every year like all the other loser franchises. If you can't do that, let Dart go to a place that will because I don't want him feeling like this in Year 2 of his career.
