'It's An Optical Illusion' - Al Michaels Openly Making Fun Of The NFL's Stupidity While Calling A Game Is Why He's A Broadcasting Legend

You may be wondering what the hell is this blog doing starting with a Vikings kick against the Browns? Well, it sets the tone. It's the backstory to Al Michaels showing why he's still got it. As you can see, the kick above clearly hits a wire. Everyone knows it hits a wire, which is why Al Michaels says this:

Pretty fair. No one really batted an eye or thought different. Just went along watching some shitty Vikings football and wondering when Justin Jefferson would beg for a decent quarterback. Well, you know who was listening? The NFL, who made the call and apparently demanded Al Michaels to correct himself:

Wait, what the fuck? Optical illusion? That's the biggest lie the NFL has told since they claimed to care about player safety. We're all relatively smart here, we at least all have eyes, that ain't no optical illusion. Even funnier that Al Michaels just openly admits the NFL wants to bring him in for a meeting like Joe Pesci in Goodfellas. You think Al Michaels cares though? Fuck no. He's got Amazon money, he's been around forever, there's nothing that can stop him in terms of saying whatever he wants. Need more proof?

I know people talk about him losing his fastball. But this is when he's at his best. When he doesn't give a shit what people think and can just make fun of the league, talk about spreads, crack jokes like he's drinking a beer with us in the basement. The dude doesn't care and it makes it better. I'd rather him say his favorite memory of the Chargers/49ers game was the spread than some 'oh Jerry Rice is really good' lame take that we typically would get. Give me Al Michaels making fun of the league trying to say it's an optical illusion. This is how you call a game, especially one that sucked.
