What's The Greatest Intro Song To An Album of All Time?

Interesting question was posed by the Barstool Backstage account on twitter this evening and it got the juices flowing.

Immediately, my 1:1 came to mind. And I dare anybody to argue-

Holy moly does that one still go hard.

I'll never forget picking up GRODT that cold Tuesday in February. Half of the songs had already leaked onto the internet, and the forums where you could download everything weeks ahead of time were littered with fake tracklistings full of 50's mixtape tracks, freestyles, and songs off 50 Cent Is The Future that people were passing off as the "official" album. I didn't know what to think, so I went to the store to buy the real thing the morning it dropped. Hopping in my friend T-Box's Saturn (an American car brand they literally don't make anymore), and throwing it in his cd player (if you were lucky back then, your car came with a CD player in the dash. If it didn't, you'd have to pay some kid at BestBuy to install a pioneer or Yamaha faceplate that had a 90% chance of getting stolen within 6 months, OR, if you were really cool, you'd get a 6 or 10-cd changer installed in your trunk... those were the days)

Anyway, throwing that CD in, and hearing the half dollar roll around on the wooden table followed by those bass-knocks and gun shots was an announcement like no-other. 50 Cent had arrived. And he, and that album were not playing games.

All-timer.

But then, I got to thinking. There were some others worthy of mention. Namely, the champion prior to Get Rich Or Die Tryin', and that would be the intro from Dark Man X's debut album- It's Dark and Hell Is Hot

Fucking. Banger.

I will never forget Iron Mike coming out to this song -

Then of course the hardest intro of any CD of my childhood, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from Nirvana's Nevermind -

Then my favorite rock intro of all time, "Welcome To The Jungle" off of Appetite For Destruction -

Then I've got the most obvious one, the song is literally called "Intro" and it's from the greatest hookup album of all time, by The XX -

and of course the greatest electronic song from the greatest dance music album ever, Discovery

and of course the intro track from the self titled album from one of my favorite groups, LCD Soundsystem

Then there's some old-time gems from my parents day that got ingrained in my memory from my mom throwing a cassette tape on in the car -

like Boston - More Than A Feeling

and of course, Michael Jackson - Wanna Be Startin Something from the great Thriller album

Marvin Gaye - What's Going On

The Doors - Break On Through (To The Other Side)

U2 - Where The Streets Have No Name from The Joshua Tree

Then a few others I remember off the top of my head -

The Beastie Boys - Sure Shot

Queen - We Will Rock You. The fact that this News Of The World album leads off with this followed right up by "We Are The Champions" is crazy.

Let me know what I left out in the comments and I will update the blog.
