The Future Is Now: The Giants Are Reportedly Going 'Big-Game Hunting' For A Wide Receiver, Know Jaxson Dart Makes Them A Winner Again
There's a whole lot of smoke that something is happening with the Giants and a wide receiver. Before this report we had this restructure of contracts:
Then there was this meeting:
There's too much smoke. You don't have every single person meeting together after practice and after creating nearly $5 million in open cap space for this not to happen. Now, there's the two guys that everyone are pointing at. Jaylen Waddle and Chris Olave. Don't care who ends up a Giant, as long as it's one of those two. I know people can be concerned about Olave's health but he basically just had Carr and a rotating cast of quarterbacks throwing him hospital balls. Jaylen Waddle needs to be saved from Tua and can come play for a real franchise.
[Source] - An influx of talent at the position could maximize Dart’s progress. General manager Joe Schoen, sources say, is trying to make that happen.
Chris Olave (Saints), Jaylen Waddle (Dolphins) and Jakobi Meyers (Raiders) are among the top potential targets.
The challenge with acquiring Olave or Waddle, according to sources, lies in persuading their current teams to part ways. A directive from ownership, front office shakeups or significant draft compensation might be enough to shift the conversation.
The key is to keep this wide receiver for the long term too. You obviously have Malik Nabers as WR1, can build next to him and give Dart another receiver to grow with. You have your defensive stars, you have guys on rookie contracts, you have to take advantage of that. I also don't think you're leveraging the future by trading a 3rd rounder for someone like Olave or Waddle.
The bigger thing is this shows the front office truly believes Jaxson Dart is going to win with this franchise. You don't talk about trading for another wide receiver if there wasn't hope. I know we are 2-4, but it's not like the season is over. The NFC East is still bunched up, there are a small amount of great teams this year and this is building for the future at the same time. Get through the gauntlet of this season, give Dart some more options and let's go win.
Fans have been screaming to add to the receivers for some time. Can't keep relying on Darius Slayton or someone like an Isaiah Hodgins. Love seeing there's finally a belief to win. Go big-game hunting.
