RIP Drew Struzan - The Greatest Movie Poster Artist Of All Time

This is a really sad loss: unfortunately Drew Struzan has passed away at the age of 78, following a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. 

If the name Drew Struzan doesn't ring a bell immediately, and you think you don't know him - I guarantee you'd recognize his work. Struzan was the poster artist for movies like Star Wars, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, The Goonies, The Thing, Hook, Blade Runner, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Muppets Christmas Carol, Big Trouble In Little China, and plenty more. Basically, there were a few decades in Hollywood where if you were a successful franchise or box office hit, the odds were that Drew Struzan did your posters. In my eyes, Drew Struzan is to movie posters what John Williams is to movie scores - the undisputed GOAT. Just look at some of these absolute masterpieces....

From the way he could capture the vibe of the movie and translate it onto a poster, to the perfect composition and layout he'd give every design, to the impeccable likeness every actor was always given, to the simply ICONIC visuals he created time and time again - there's never been anyone like him, and I don't think there ever will be. Rest in peace to a true legend.
