Ben Johnson Saying What We Are All Thinking Inside Our Heads...What If The Bears Can Be Actually Good
I think this clip summed up every Bears fan's emotions after that game. Fired up to win. Ecstatic to be on a winning streak. Somewhat in disbelief that they Bears pulled it out. Over the moon that the offensive line play was genuinely GREAT in that game and...wondering what this team can be if they stop beating themselves with stupid penalties.
The Bears have a ton to clean up. I don't think anyone could watch that game and think that the Bears are a good team at this point. Washington was missing guys. Daniels fumbled a snap/exchange with a chance to win the game. The Bears found a way to win. They're obviously not a finished product. It does feel like at least some of the problems the Bears are having can be self-corrected. No more pre-snap penalties. Caleb taking a few more shots deep when WRs are running free down the field. Fewer drops. A few less drive killing negative plays/penalties. If they can clean that up you start to let yourself dream...cautiously. Maybe not in reality. Might need to be 4-2 before that conversation really begins. Looking at the schedule though...
Before the season you'd have several of these game circled as sure-fire losses. Now, outside of maybe a desperate Baltimore team on the road, off of a bye, and with Lamar Jackson back in the lineup who can't the Bears beat? You'd think they'd have at least a punchers chance in every game in the meaty part of the schedule. If they are somehow 4-2 in this stretch the Bears would be 7-4 with 6 games remaining. A genuine shot at the playoffs heading into December. I would've snapped off anyone's hand if they offered me that scenario before the season. Just keep winning. Keep getting better. Hit your stride for real down the stretch and let's enjoy the holiday season.
