No Exaggeration, The Brewers Just Turned One Of The Craziest Double Plays You'll Ever See To Escape The Bases Loaded Against The Dodgers

I don't know if the first video worked so I put it twice to be sure

Holy fucking shit! That's one of the craziest plays you'll ever seen happen in a postseason game. Frelick doesn't come up with the catch (I still don't know if he robbed a grand slam or if it was just gonna go off the wall), but manages to come close enough that he tricks the baserunners. Teoscar had no clue what do at 3rd, he tagged up twice thinking he messed up the timing the first time. INSANE to not score from 3rd on a ball hit 400 feet to center. Will Smith ran back to second to tag and was convinced it was a catch. Meanwhile, the Brewers played it perfectly, just getting the runner at home on a lightning quick relay. Contreras then runs to 3rd to get the second force out because Will Smith never ran. The play went on like it was a base hit up the middle, but no one ran. Just your routine 8-6-2U DP to escape a bases loaded jam in the NLCS.

They did end up showing that the left field umpire Chad Fairchild immediately signaled no catch, but no one on the Dodgers picked up on it. That's a tough ask for everyone to think to look down the left field line in that moment to see what they should do. So unlucky because in real time you're scrambling and have no idea if he caught it or not. The Brewers took advantage and turned two. Just pure chaos. Summed up pretty well by Sal.

The overhead view gives you another look at it all unfolding.

The Yankees are watching this at home kicking themselves that they didn't come up with this first to fuck themselves out of a bases loaded opportunity. The only batted ball hit over 350 feet for a GIDP in the pitch tracking era.

History!
