Fire Falling From The Sky, People Running For Their Lives, Chinese Drone & Fireworks Show Turned Into a Scene Out of an Apocalypse Movie

Drone DJ – What began as a mesmerizing light show over the skies of Liuyang, China, quickly turned into an apocalyptic nightmare. Hundreds of spectators ran for their lives as a high-tech drone and fireworks performance erupted into chaos, showering the crowd below with blazing debris.

Videos circulating online show the moment the spectacle spiraled out of control: drones bursting into flames midair, fiery fragments raining down like meteors, and panicked families screaming as they scrambled for safety. Some spectators used plastic chairs as makeshift shields, trying desperately to protect themselves from the downpour of sparks.

As I understand it, drone shows are all the rage in China. When done correctly, they're a beautiful sight to behold. I don't know how they even manage to pull some of these shows off. I'd guess single drone would cost around $1,000? I could be way off on that, but I see these videos out of China where they're creating stunning arial displays made up up 11,000+ individual drones. The amount of money it takes to put on something like this must be ridiculous.

It sure looks cool though. I'm significantly more intrigued by that than I am by fireworks. But the good people of Liuyang, China's "October: The Sound of Blooming Flowers" extravaganza thought to themselves, "Hold up guys... what if we put fireworks ON the drones."

The fiery mishap unfolded earlier this month at Liuyang’s Sky Theatre, during a performance titled “October: The Sound of Blooming Flowers.” The event was meant to blend traditional fireworks with dazzling drone choreography, creating a 3D “blooming” effect across the city’s river. But something went catastrophically wrong.

And that's how you turn the family friendly "October: The Sound of Blooming Flowers" drone show into a scene straight out of a Roland Emmerich film.

If "October: The Sound of Blooming Flowers" is going to be this much of a disaster every season, I might have to book my flight to Liuyang for next year's festival. Every July in Pamplona, Spain during the Festival of San Fermín, they unleash six dangerous fighting bulls into the streets, and the townsfolk run for their lives. It's fun, it's exciting, it's dangerous, people get hurt, sometimes they die, everybody loves it. Flaming drones falling from the sky could be China's version of Running of The Bulls. Sprinting through the streets of Liuyang fearing for your life as sky waterfall of fireballs pour form the sky… it would be as thrilling as it is beautiful.

Just a thought, China. For the record, this is what a properly done drone fireworks show is supposed to look like.

Pretty neat guys! I can see why you tried to recreate it. I bet the blooming flowers they had envisioned would have looked pretty damn impressive. That's one thing I always appreciate about China. They're willing to try anything. Oftentimes at the detriment of the world at large. Like when that one guy tried to eat a raw bat. But they have ambition. You can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs. And you don't get awesome giant flaming winged phoenixes without setting a few cities on fire.
