As It Turns Out, LeBron's #TheSecondDecision Has Nothing To Do With His Eventual Retirement And Was Just An Ad To Sell Hennessy

Yesterday, LeBron took the world by storm by putting out the tweet below
Given what took place during his initial "Decision", the internet largely went to two places
1. This was LeBron trolling everyone and this announcement was some sort of ad
2. LeBron was going to formally announce his retirement, whenever that's going to be.
For those of us who have been waiting decades for LeBron to finally retire, we were hoping for #2. Even in my blog yesterday I acknowledged that this could very well be a marketing ploy, but I was trying my best to speak the retirement announcement into existence as any blue blood Lakers/LeBron hater would
uhhhhhh this is it right? This is going to be the retirement announcement right? Maybe that's just me falling for whatever marketing gimmick LeBron might be trying here, but you can't call it #TheSecondDecision and then have it be anything other than his retirement announcement right? He's under contract, so it's not like he's going to be letting the world know where he's taking his talents this season, we know that answer. It's the Lakers. Is that going to be the case in the offseason? Who knows.
Well, the results are in, and it is very much not a retirement announcement
BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
While part of me respects the elite troll given the fact that we're all waiting for the eventual retirement announcement, I am equally annoyed that this is just an effort to sling some Hennessy. Even though logic told you this was going to be an ad, sometimes you just need to believe in something you know? Even though it may have been delusional to think this was how LeBron was going to call it a career, there was always a 0.00000001% chance he was going to start a 2-year farewell tour or something that only LeBron would do (I bet that's still coming eventually).
If we're being honest, the more I think about it the more I'm glad this happened. Given what LeBron is doing on the basketball court at his age, I could feel my stance on him start to lighten. At the very least, things had morphed into more of a respect thing with LeBron after decades of dealing with him destroying my favorite team. So now by pulling this stunt, it's allowed my hater feelings to come rushing back, and frankly that feels great. I am already programmed to hate the Lakers with a passion, but now I can also bypass the respect feelings for what LeBron is doing at his age and get back to what feels right which is hating. I'm already annoyed given the fact that Marcus Smart is a Laker, so in some ways I guess I should be thanking LeBron for allowing me to get back to my hating roots right before the NBA season starts.
So yeah, the whole wishing this was about to be a retirement announcement didn't work out too well. I guess it's back to the drawing board with that one
