Sometimes The Boys Just Need To Sit Down And Talk About Their Feelings. Which Is Exactly What Saquon Barkley, AJ Brown, And Jalen Hurts Did This Week

The Eagles offense, for whatever reason, hasn't been on the same page at all during the 2025 season so far. They've had a few quarters where it looks like they could start to piece it together, but only in flashes.

Maybe the offensive coordinator is a dunce who was underqualified for the job, was just the easy hire, and is now proving that he's in way over his head. Maybe the offensive line is actually just really bad this year, and that's something that Eagles fans never thought we'd be alive to see. Maybe Saquon Barkley is human, and is going to have a down year after having a billion touches last year the same way as other running backs who have had a billion touches the year before.

Or maybe there's some truth to the speculation that's been thrown around out there about the quarterback and the top receiver on the team having a broken relationship. We see it happen all the time, and it's why there's a pretty popular saying about never going into business with your friends. Whatever the reason is, it's pretty clear that Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown are in a spot where they're not rushing to go talk to each other to figure out what is going on with the offense this year.

So, yet again, here comes Saquon Barkley to the rescue.

Just like Saquon Barkley coming in and being the answer the offense needed in 2024, now he's coming in to be the answer the Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown relationship needs in 2025. There's no way that Jalen or AJ decided to have this conversation on their own. The most likely situation is that Saquon Barkley just locked all of them in a room, and wasn't going to let anyone out until they came to some sort of resolution. Either they were all going to get over it, or they were going to have to kill each other in there. One way or another, any resentment or beef out there was going to get squashed.

Now you can look at this and say "who gives a shit, it's just a conversation". But let's not forget what the early portion of last season looked like. The Eagles were 2-2. The entire city was out on Nick Sirianni. The entire city was out on Jalen Hurts. They went into the bye week with everybody wanting to blow the team up. Then Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts had a conversation during the bye week that changed their relationship, the offensive line had a few conversations to change up the way the offense runs, and everything clicked from there.

Sometimes you just need to actually talk about it with the boys. Sometimes you can't just hold it all in. You have that conversation, you talk about what's going on, you get on the same page, and you go back to doing what makes you all so great in the first place. The Eagles might be the first team to prove that defense doesn't win championships, therapy does. I guess we'll see how productive of a conversation it actually was on Thursday night against the Giants. The city of Philadelphia needs a big Eagles beatdown now more than ever.
