Hammer Ohio State On Saturday As The Buckeyes Are The Only Undefeated Team In America (11-0) After Taylor Swift Releases A Studio Album
I saw this tweet this morning and had to go right to the records books to check on this. I tried to do it off the top of my head, but I always get mixed up about whether Folklore or Evermore came out in December of 2020. Anyways, after further review, it appears that Ben Stevens is correct: Ohio State is a perfect 8-0 the week after Taylor Swift releases a studio album during a full college football season. But I don't get all the qualifiers like "full" and "during the season". Unless my math is mistaken, Ohio State is a perfect 11-0 in their very next game following all 11 of Taylor Swift's studio albums before today.
Taylor Swift (Oct. 24, 2006) - The #1 team in the country, Ohio State, went to Minnesota on October 28th and won 44-0.
Fearless (Nov. 11, 2008) - Ohio State went on the road to Illinois and won 30-20 just 4 days later.
Speak Now (Oct. 25, 2010) - Ohio State beat Minnesota 52-10 the following Saturday.
Red (Oct. 22, 2012) - We had a tough matchup that next Saturday at Penn State, but the Buckeyes prevailed 35-23.
1989 (Oct. 27, 2014) - The following Saturday, November 1st, the future National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes beat Illinois in a close one, 55-14.
Reputation (Nov. 10, 2017) - The very next day, #11 Ohio State beat #13 Michigan State by a mere 48-3 margin.
Lover (Aug. 23, 2019) - Ohio State won their season opener 8 days later against Florida Atlantic by a score of 45-21.
Folklore (July 24, 2020) - This was the covid season, so Ohio State didn't play until October 24th, but they beat Nebraska 52-17 that day.
Evermore (Dec. 11, 2020) - Ohio State won their very next game, which just so happened to be the Big Ten Championship, 22-10 over Northwestern just 8 days later on December 19th.
Midnights (Oct. 21, 2022) - Ohio State beat Iowa that day by a score of 54-10.
The Tortured Poets Department (April 19, 2024) - Ohio State beat Akron 52-6 in the season opener later that Fall.
.....which brings us to The Life of a Showgirl, which released today. And Ohio State plays tomorrow at home against Minnesota. I'll admit I was a little nervous heading into the game, but how could you possibility pick against the Buckeyes when they're 23.5 point favorites at home playing the day after a Taylor Swift album release?
But in all seriousness, that -2400 price tag is obviously too steep to make any money. Might I suggest parlaying with an Illinois win? Apparently Purdue is the only team in the country that fits that guys qualifiers and has never won a game afterwards. Ohio State + Illinois ML Parlay is only -233....and the odds say it should be more like -1000000.
