Bad Bunny Is This Year's Super Bowl Halftime Show And Honestly...It's Probably Gonna Be Awesome
Look, everyone knows I'm a rock n roll guy. I'm trying my best to get rock n roll back as the Super Bowl halftime show. But I get it, they want to appeal to the masses. They want the people who would never watch football to tune in. So that's why the halftime show has gone the way of mostly international pop stars. And this year's...well...Bad Bunny is the biggest of them all. So yeah...while myself, and likely a lot of you reading this blog can't name one Bad Bunny song, he's also simultaneously the most streamed artist in the world. I mean the guy has a MASSIVE world-wide audience and whether you like it or not, that's what matters to Goodell right now. It's unfortunate for those of us who pray to see our favorite bands perform on the world's biggest stage is what moves the needle more than a rock band.
So look...while maybe we won't understand a word of the show itself (btw, not racist, he sings in Spanish!), Bad Bunny is a world class entertainer and I'm sure the show is going to be electric. Some folks don't know this but Bad Bunny has also crossed over into WWE and his entrances go crazy.
So while you might not love the Bad Bunny pick, you gotta at least see where they're coming from. His performance is going to melt the YouTube servers in South America/Puerto Rico. It's hard to get a bigger star than Bad Bunny, so while he wouldn't be my first pick, it makes total sense.
PS: I still think Metallica should open the halftime show with Enter Sandman. Virginia Tech style. Would be the perfect way to kick it off for Bad Bunny.
