Commanders Defense Shit The Bed In An Annoying Loss To Atlanta

Lost by 7 but the defense couldn't do shit. 27 on the road with Marcus Mariota under center should be enough to win but this defense is not stopping a fly. It was a dreadful, DREADFUL day at the office for the entire defense. Tackling I would rate as an F----------. Yes stopping Bijan is impossible, I get that, but man this team just looked slow and out of position at all times. Couldn't get off the field on 3rd downs, couldn't get to the QB, couldn't cover, it was all bad. 

The sky is not falling though. Quite frankly, it's hard to win road games in the NFL, and double as hard without your starting QB and without your starting WR. One or the other? Fine. Both? Nearly impossible. Doesn't matter how bad the Falcons were last game, it's the NFL, we know anything can happen and usually does. I mean shit, the Giants won at home vs the previously undefeated Chargers today. And next week they could conceivably lose to the Saints in New Orleans. Just the way the league is.

Again, I am not doom and glooming this team but Joe Whitt Jr better figure his shit out ASAP. I don't completely blame him- there's a clear lack of depth on defense which of course goes back to Ron Rivera whiffing on 4 straight drafts. So if 55 year old Bobby Wagner is your best option for coverage at LB, you're not gonna have a good time. But JWJ has to get into the lab and scheme something up because performances like today cannot happen all year.

Next week is another tough road game, this time vs the Chargers. Jayden will be back but honestly yeah I'm scared of what Herbert is capable of. The good news is their OLine is dog shit covered in cat shit so hopefully we can get in Herbert's kitchen and not let him pick us apart.

Annoying loss but it happens. Onwards and upwards we go.
