'Everybody Is Going To Say We Suck' - CJ Stroud Is Right. Watching The Texans Is One Of The Most Brutal Things In The NFL Right Now
[Source] - It marked the sixth game with 20 or fewer points since Week 15, 2024, tied for the most in the NFL over that span, including playoffs.
The offseason changes haven't yet clicked under new coordinator Nick Caley. After falling to 0-2, Stroud preached patience.
"Everybody's going to talk crazy and say we suck and we're this and that," he said, via The Associated Press. "But at the end of the day, we've got to stay together and ... be honest and have hard conversations. But I think right now we need more confidence as an offense, just confidently playing better together. I think that's a big thing."
The Texans' 28 points scored through two weeks are an NFL low. Despite a defense that has given up just 34 points, the seventh-fewest, the Texans find themselves one of 10 winless teams entering Week 3.
I don't know if the Texans suck, I just know it sucks to watch them play. They are boring, they are just kinda a 'there' football team. They aren't contenders, they aren't going to win a Super Bowl but they also don't suck. They are probably going to win the AFC South, mostly because I still don't buy the Colts and then there's the Titans and Jags. But, we watched them just plod around, kick a bunch of field goals and blow the game to the Bucs while also Baker won it.
The offense is a problem. The line sucks. They have Nico Collins, who is awesome, but then what? They drafted two wide receivers and I haven't seen them do anything. Christian Kirk and Tank Dell are hurt. Nick Chubb is a good story, but is he really the answer to make your team exciting? Nope.
It's not even just the Texans. There's a lot of bad offense out there. But there's something about a team who was supposed to be next up as a contender in the AFC just becoming this that makes it worse. Probably doesn't help the defense is good, we saw a rookie CJ Stroud look awesome and now they are just boring as shit. That's only way to describe it. They can't score, they don't give up a ton of points so you're just watching incomplete passes and quarterbacks run for their lives. It's not that the Texans are 0-2, they lost to the Bucs and Rams, big deal. It's the fact the offense looks like shit and you're not fixing an offensive line.
I'm almost ready to change up divisions in the NFL just so we don't have to keep watching the AFC South winner play that first playoff game at like 1 on Saturday. It's always the AFC South winner there because they won like 9 games, no one thinks they are actually making a run and that's where we are again. Also, if you score less points in two weeks than the Titans we can say your offense sucks. That's the bar so far and you have to get over that.
