Memphis Coach Ryan Silverfield Says He Makes Sure To Show His Team Every Time a Georgia Player Drives '900 Miles Per Hour Over the Speed Limit'
While it unfortunately requires me to root for Memphis to win games, I now have my No. 1 desired College Football Playoff matchup this season. Just imagine the Tigers going to Sanford Stadium in December after Ryan Silverfield called out the best coach in college football for not being able to keep his players out of the Athens-Clarke County Jail. Kirby Smart would be on a personal mission to embarrass this guy like we've never seen.
Now, to be clear, I am certain Silverfield is hardly the only coach in America to show his team every time another Georgia player is arrested for operating a vehicle at a somehow ever-incresing rate of speed. He's just the only one with the balls to say it publicly. I guarantee you nobody has seen the Bulldogs' collection of mugshots more than college football players at other programs.
But now we deserve to see these teams play each other. I'm all for shit talking if you're going to have to back it up on the field — see Thomas Castellanos and Alabama. But if you're going to go out of your way to take a shot at a program that's far above your weight class, you should have to put them on the schedule. If your standard is so far above that of Georgia's, go prove it.
Regardless of what would happen on the field, though, I haven't seen dozens of Memphis players all arrested for wreaking havoc on the streets, so Silverfield is doing something right.
