Aaron Boone Continues To Prove He's The Dumbest Man Alive While Devin Williams Just Loves To Sabotage The Yankees

Every night is truly a fresh nightmare for the New York Yankees. Each one unique to the one you just witnessed. Just when you think it can't get worse, it does. It's reached a point where it's not a question of it the disaster will come about, but when. Since the trade deadline they've now suffered five losses in a row. Their once 7 game lead in the AL East a few months ago has turned into a 6.5 game deficit. With a loss on Wednesday the Yankees will find themselves outside the American League postseason picture. How does that happen? Two words —Aaron Boone.

On Tuesday night the Yankees bats ran into the buzzsaw that is Nathan Eovaldi. He was amazing and completely silenced them as he's done to virtually everyone in the league this year. The Yankees pitchers did a great job of stymying the Rangers at the same time, allowing the game to remain scoreless heading into the 8th inning. That's when Boone turned to Devin Williams. The very same Devin Williams who served up a game-tying homer to Joc Pederson in the 9th the night before. The very same Devin Williams who had allowed an earned run in three consecutive outings. The same Devin Williams who has been enduring by far the worst season of his career and has been zapped of all confidence in big moments. That was Boone's move to keep things scoreless. So what happened?

The bases were quickly loaded. Did he get any help from Jasson Dominguez in left field to start things off? No, but at the same time that ball was hit on the screws with a 102.7 exit velo so it's not like that was a slow dribbler through the infield. Regardless, two more walks in the inning loaded them up for Rowdy Tellez. With just one out you're looking for a strikeout there and Boone had double barrel action going in the pen with swing and miss guys Bednar and Leiter Jr. warm and ready to come in. The YES cameras zoomed in on Boone, almost certain he was about to emerge from the dugout and put his pathetic reliever out of his own misery. But no, Boone stayed with Williams for no other reason than to torture us. The result? The game.

Just an insane move to leave Devin Williams in the game there. Bad enough to bring him in the 8th in general, but to believe he was the right guy to get out of that jam was asinine. Boone's reasoning for not pulling Williams? Well, for Bednar's case he wanted to "shorten the game," whatever the fuck that means. Steal an out in the bottom of the 8th inning as your season continues to go down the drain. I guess we'll just ignore that you traded for David Bednar to get those strikeouts. Not even to mention that lefties, like Tellez, have a .455 OPS against him this season. With Leiter he was weary of bringing in a guy who was just coming off the IL. So to that I say…

1) why the fuck was he warming up then over a guy like Tim Hill?

2) You brought in Nestor Cortes Jr. in the WORLD SERIES after not pitching for an entire month with the game on the line. Now we're gonna be gun-shy about those moves? Get the fuck out of here.

It's a move that truly has no sense behind it. If I didn't know any better I'd suggest Boone is actively attempting to get fired and trying to see how bad this has to get for them to actually pull the plug. Eight years of this shit in New York, maybe he's over it. His latest weekly interview on Talkin Yanks' resembled the looks of a defeated man.

If they lose this series finale on Wednesday and get swept I think that finally does it. I mean it has to right? How can you withstand this slide with a good roster and not suffer the consequences?

This is a living nightmare that the rest of the world is laughing at. The Jays and Sox can't get out of bed without winning meanwhile we're navigating a daily minefield that never ends. I'm tired man. I keep watching because I love this team, but that love is being tested. For the first time in a while I have no interest in going to a game in person. I imagine others feel the same. That should mean something, but yet we continue this circus of hell.
