The Mets Get Their Center Field Upgrade By Trading For The Unescapable Cedric Mullins
So there it is! I feel like most Mets fans (myself included) were really excited about the thought of trading for Luis Robert Jr. and watching him become the weapon he was supposed to be by simply removing him from the White Sox, as other teams did with Mets players back in the day.
But in this house we live by the simple motto of In Stearns We Trust, so I am going to tell myself that the asking price of LouBob was too high and kindly ignore that we traded a fireballer who can hit 104(!!!) on the gun for another rental, even if he apparently has less control than Wild Thing Vaughn during Spring Training.
The fact of the matter is Cedric Mullins is an upgrade over Tyrone Taylor in center, could be the subtle piece that allows this lineup to click into place, and once again didn't cost the Mets any Major League talent.
Plus lets be honest, this is going to be awesome to tweet out after Cedric makes another brain-breaking play.
In addition to the Mullins trade, we now have unsubstantiated reports like this flying around all willy nilly.
It's pure chaos and there's less than 2 hours until the deadline.
Speaking of which, we'll be going live on We Gotta Believe after the deadline is over at 6 PM ET. Come join us to celebrate/complain/yell into the void together!
