An Early Win For Team USA: Luke Donald Agrees To A Ryder Cup Rule Change That Puts Keegan Bradley One Step Closer To Being Our Playing Captain

It's a pretty slow day right now, so want to talk about this. I'm not overly intrigued by the playoffs or anything like that in golf. The weekly tournaments? Sure, yeah, of course I'm going to watch and there's plenty of Ryder Cup points at play and what not. But that's where my mind is right now. The Ryder Cup. I don't care what happens in the Tour Championship because Scottie has been the best player again this year. That's the story for the season, not who wins the Tour Championship.

I'm going to chalk this up to an early win for Team USA. Sure, it's an easy thing to agree to and not worth being an asshole over, but it's still competition. I can't say I'd blindly agree to this, especially since it helps Team USA. Why? It's simple. Keegan Bradley is firmly in the mix for a Ryder Cup spot. The guys we all expected to be here - Homa, Cantlay, Finau, guys typically on these sort of teams aren't pushing for a spot. Cantlay is in the mix but he's far from a lock for the team outside of him and Xander typically being our best team at this event. Then you have a mix of new guys like Ben Griffin, Chris Gotterup, Maverick McNealy and Andrew Novak in the mix. So, yeah, playing captain Keegan Bradley isn't insane.

We need to win at Bethpage. I don't care how deep the European team is or if this is one of the better rosters, it's at Bethpage. We got our ass kicked in Italy and you can't lose at home in this event now. Not when there's course manipulation all over the place, guys on the US team have success at Bethpage and you still have Scottie for multiple events. Find every advantage you can.
