A Popular TikTok Creator Has Gone From Beloved to Reviled After Quitting His 9-5 Job That People Liked Watching and Going Full-Time Content Creator
The story of Hubs Life is the perfect cautionary tale for every Gen Z kid out there who thinks they're going to strike it rich on TikTok or YouTube. Even in some of the instances where that happens, you better not go all in or the internet will turn on you like Barry Bonds on a hanging changeup in the early 2000s.
Hubs Life is a guy who amassed a great following by just posting videos of his mundane life. His existence was so boring and ordinary that it somehow became interesting. He went to work, came home in the middle of the day to play with his dog for 10 minutes and eat a shitty lunch, went back to work, hit the gym and then watched Netflix until it was time to go to sleep and do it all over again. For whatever reason, that content was engaging to a lot of people.
But then this fella not only started feeling himself a bit too much, but also seemingly forgot why people were watching those videos to begin with and decided to pivot into a full-time TikTok creator. He now spends his days begging for "galaxies" on TikTok live and posting videos of an effectively unemployed man with the comments turned off.
From what I can tell, his videos now still seem to be doing pretty well, so I'd imagine the revenue from those is nothing to shake a stick at with over 900,000 followers. I guess you just have to make the determination if whatever money coming in from that is 1) enough to justify quitting your full-time job, 2) going to last an appreciable amount of time and 3) worth spending your nights on TikTok live telling people you'll tell them how much is in your 401k if they send a galaxy.
It all just really comes down to how much this guy is making. Sure, he has to wait for the storm to pass right now, but he got to quit his shitty job and now makes TikToks while everybody else is still in a cubicle. You would do it too for a check.
