The Cavs Have Extended Koby Altman, "The Architect Of Their Title Contender", Through 2030

Look I'm not here to debate whether or not Koby Altman deserved an extension through 2030 or not. The answer is an emphatic HELL YES. People forget he was a part of the 2016 title team, and then when he took over, he and his entire front office took a team decimated by the departure of LeBron James (again) and made us into a team that's won the 3rd most regular season games in the last 3 seasons. We were the head and shoulders above everyone else #1 seed in the East this past season. He's drafted Darius Garland and Evan Mobley. He's traded for Jarrett Allen, and he's brought Donovan Mitchell to Cleveland and extended him. Unreal. Yes, extend, extend, extend. He's done a great job.

What I'm here to chime in on is the surprise I had when I clicked on Shams tweet, went to the comment section, and saw everyone roasting Koby and the Cavs since the phrase "architect of a burgeoning title contender" was used.

Am I crazy? We were the #1 seed last season. We're the clear favorites to come out of the East next season. We have a young-ish core 4 while everyone else is out West. We SHOULD be title contenders....but are we? Haters will point to the fact that the Cavs haven't made it past the Conference Semis with this group, and I really don't know how to answer the haters. Injuries? Yeah of course, but every team gets banged up. We were supposed to be so much better than the Pacers in these playoffs that some dinged up players wouldn't have mattered. And they absolutely took us to the woodshed. Damn, maybe we're not title contenders....

I think this season is officially put up or shut up time for every single person involved. The East is as wide open as it's ever been. We have the talent. We have the right coach. Hell, some people are saying we might even have LeBron James when it's all said and done. Congrats on your extension, Koby. But now it's time to make our first conference semis with this group....at minimum. (Okay I liked the end of that but the fact is we have to make the NBA Finals this year or it's another bust and a huge embarrassment)
