Just Five Games And 25.2 Innings Into His MLB Career, Rookie Jacob Misiorowski Has Been Named An All-Star
Jacob Misiorowski has been a major leaguer for a month, literally a month. He made his MLB debut for the Brewers on June 12th against the Cardinals and was kind of laughed at for how it ended, just a wild way to get taken out of your MLB debut. He made headlines for a lengthy no-no attempt before he rolled his ankle on a ball while stepping back onto the mound. All he's done since then was become one of the best pitchers in baseball while also getting named to the All-Star team. He wasn't voted in, but he'll be replacing Matthew Boyd in Atlanta.
MLB to All-Star in ONE SINGLE MONTH! We thought it was crazy when Paul Skenes made the All-Star game after 11 games last year, Jacob has literally played in 5 games and made it. He also out dueled Skenes earlier this season, think we have a budding rivalry. Two monster pitchers, literally like 15 feet of fuck you fastballs between those two.
Just an incredible come up for him, I can't imagine what a whirlwind these last few weeks have been for him. 4-1 on the season with a 2.81 ERA and 33 Ks in 25.2 innings with a WHIP of 0.896, he's been really good! He's quickly jumped up the list of guys you go out of your way to watch pitch. He throws 100, he's 6'7 and he acts like a kid up there. I mean look up there, he strikes out Freddie Freeman and is legit cheesing as he SPRINTS off the field. It's like he still thinks he's in little league, it's fantastic.
What an interview too, you could tell it was kind of hitting him how real this all is and got emotional. How can you not root for this kid? He's an overnight phenom who is seeing all of his baseball dreams come true within just a few weeks. This has to feel like a dream that he doesn't want to wake up from. Great answers from him too, he seems legitimately in shock talking about it. Like he doesn't believe what he was just told. From AA to the ASG in under a calendar year, pretty crazy. This may be the record too, I can't see anyone making an All-Start team in baseball in under 5 games played, you'll never see that.
He even visited the Miller Brewery the other day when they were off, he's just a normal dude who happens to be 6'7 and throws 100. Naturally you have some folks upset at him making it in when there are plenty of other guys like Sonny Gray and Christopher Sanchez who were left off the roster, guys who have played more than, ya know, 5 games. But come on, this is really good for baseball. Fans of the sport seem to rally around these horse pitchers when they come up and are just chucking. Skenes had the hype around him leading up to it, and we loved that. This guy coming out pretty much not on anyone's radar and doing this so soon is awesome. It's something baseball can promote, come see the straw man throw 100. Who doesn't want to see that? He'll be a very fun story line the next few days leading into the break, he'll give some great quotes. We'll get some story about how many tickets he's had to get for the game for friends and family, it'll be a good time with this kid.
Cool scene in the clubhouse when Pat Murphy told everyone the good news, neat to see this side of it. It's one of the cooler baseball stories, and it really came out of nowhere. Now all he needs next are articles asking when the Brewers should trade him and how he'll look in pinstripes. Hope the Miz gets a chance to take this run in, it's not something you see too often in this sport. Just an incredibly hot run for him, let's hope it continues. He'll be a fun pitcher to watch throughout his career, probably play in a few more All-Star games too. Maybe I'm a sucker for a good story, but I like this.
