The Stage is Set Once Again With The Highest Stakes On The Line: Carlos Alcaraz vs. Jannik Sinner For The Wimbledon Title on Sunday Morning

Well, well, well here we are again. For the second time in a little over a month Carlos Alcaraz will meet Jannik Sinner in a grand slam final. Back in early June these two went toe to toe in one of the best sporting events I've ever seen where Carlos prevailed in a five set masterpiece to hoist the Roland Garros trophy.

Now we get to do it all again. That's how it's gonna go for men's tennis for the next 10 years. There's a substantial drop off in talent after Alcaraz and Sinner when it comes to grand slam level. While you'd love a little more parity in the game, if they're gonna produce matches like last month then who is honestly going to complain? These two killing each other for hours on a court with everything on the line is a dream.

So what's different this time?

Alcaraz has won 24 consecutive matches, including a tuneup grass court title in London leading up to this tournament. Oddly enough a guy who was retiring, Fabio Fognini, gave him his biggest scare in round one at Wimbledon, pushing the match to five sets before Carlos handled business. After that it's been relative smooth sailing. Fritz put up a solid fight today, but when it came down to it Carlos was just better when it mattered.

He's the two-time defending champion here with eyes squarely on a three peat. It's a privilege to watch this guy play tennis.

Jannik Sinner is the world number one, but is about to play in his first ever Wimbledon final. If he has a weakness, it's grass courts, but 99% of the tour would kill their entire bloodlines to play like he does on this surface. Sinner hadn't dropped a set in the tournament until the quarterfinals when Grigor Dimitrov raced out to a two sets to none lead. The Italian was in big trouble until Grigor tore his pec and had to exit the match. A true gift from the gods to not only advance Sinner in that position, but also not require him to spend hours on the court to fight back. Today he breezed through a physically hampered Novak Djokovic to win in straight sets.

Sinner's level was strong, but Novak didn't really pose much of a threat until the 3rd. There really is only one person on Earth who can beat Jannik consistently and that is Alcaraz. He's done it five times in a row actually.

On Sunday at 11am EST Alcaraz and Sinner will face off for the Wimbledon title. Right now Carlos is going off as a -130 favorite which I think shows some respect for Sinner despite the favorable surface going to the Spaniard. I'm gonna say Carlos in 5 right now, but I could be talked down to 4 just because Alcaraz has been unbeatable on this surface for a while now. With a win Carlos will be up to six slam titles to Sinner's three. Let's get it done. Vamos!
