Our National Nightmare Is Over, You No Longer Have To Take Your Shoes Off At The Airport While Going Through Security
AT LAST!!!!! After living through 23 years of torture in the form of "removing your shoes to go through airport security," our nightmare is over in the US. TSA has finally realized that nobody is carrying bombs into the airport inside their shoes. VICTORY!!!!
Now, anyone who travels often has TSA Precheck/Clear/literally any sort of leg up in the airport that already afforded us this luxury. I got TSA Precheck solely for this reason, and also so I don't have to take my laptop out of my backpack. Absurd rules to begin with but in a country where we never, EVER forget 9/11, I understand the caution. There was a time where these huge X-ray machines barely existed - now, you put your stuff on that belt or walk through that spaceship and you'll be clocked for a face lotion that's .02 oz over the limit, hidden in the bottom of your makeup bag (because you knew the rules and deliberately broke them, thinking, who is going to notice an extra .02 oz?) We're living in the future and HEY BAD GUYS, WE'RE GONNA FIND YOUR SHIT NO MATTER WHAT!
I assumed this was a worldwide thing before I traveled overseas for the first time. I noticed A LOT of people wearing sandals at the Euro airports and thought, GROSS! You're going to take your bare dogs out on the floor?? Jokes on me, only loser Americans who are afraid of terrorists do that. Now, we no longer need to live in fear (of people seeing our toes or feeling vulnerable because you're barefoot getting patted down a little too much.) We can board our planes in peace.
