The Final Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath Show Looked Like A Fitting Farewell To Heavy Metal's Greatest Stars
What a weekend for the rock n' roll history books we just had. Obviously the long awaited Oasis reunion went down in Cardiff, and we've talked your ears off about that already so I won't spend too much more time on that here - but also, the final Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath show happened on Saturday night in the home of heavy metal: Birmingham, England.
It was an 10-hour show hosted by Jason Momoa (and livestreamed around the world) full of the biggest bands and artists in the history of the genre, supergroups formed just for this, and guest messages thanking Ozzy/Black Sabbath for their service to music over the last fifty years. And I'll be honest - it wasn't the perfect, unbelievable, flawless show that was advertised....there were some technical difficulties/glitches throughout and multiple less-than-stellar performances over the course of the day, but there were also plenty of highlights, so I'll focus on the good!
Yungblud blew EVERYONE away with his performance of 'Changes'....
Jack Black delivered a killer version of 'Mr Crowley' with a group including Tom Morello's son Roman....
Travis Barker/Danny Carey/Chad Smith's "drum off" during 'Symptom of the Universe' ruled….
Steven Tyler turned the clock back with 'Whole Lotta Love' and 'Walk This Way'….
Jason Momoa was getting in the pits like a lunatic….
….and honestly, Ozzy still sounded like Ozzy for the most part!
He wasn't belting out high notes and hitting the same heights he once did - but c'mon now, he's a 76-year-old rockstar suffering from Parkinson's Disease. What did you expect from him?
I'd say all things considered, he sounded very good and put on a respectable enough show for his final bow! I'm sure all of the fans in that stadium would agree, that it was worth it to say goodbye to the heavy metal legend in such a grand manner. And Geezer Butler/Tony Iommi still had it completely, and Bill Ward did his best behind the kit with Sabbath for the first time in decades - I appreciated the fact that he went tarps off at 77….

I'm really just happy Ozzy was able to soak up this show and have one last moment on stage - which he has said he's been craving for years now. He deserved it.
P.S. How the fuck was this the first meeting between Ozzy Osbourne and Axl Rose???
It was also great to see Ozzy's comedic timing is still on point, letting out a "Fuck off you're not marrying my daughter!" the second he realized before Kelly Osbourne got engaged to Sid Wilson from Slipknot….
Hilarious.
