Every Couple Feels So Forced: Love Island Episode 30 RECAP
Okay, okay, okay. Love Island has officially lost the plot. You just have to watch the boat sink at this point, we are too deep into it. There isn't a single strong couple! At this point of the show, people are supposed to be boyfriend and girlfriend. There are silly proposals and fun dates. Not a ton of mess and exploring connections 30 days in. Let's do a quick summary of the episode and then break down the couples.
I don't know why the episode wouldn't start off with saying that Cierra had left the show. The episode started and I was so confused because they just weren't showing her at all. Unknowing to her, the internet has been in a frenzy to get her off the show because of racist instagram posts using a slur against Asian people. I totally agree that she had to go, I just feel like saying "personal reasons" is crazy. I don't think they told the islanders what happened either so I think everyone was just confused. This led to Nic being single, and our Nicolandria dreams were alive again (by force). Huda and Chris seem to be really hitting it off, and Clarke and Taylor too. I don't want to root for them but they seem like the only genuine connections! I actually like Clarke, and you can tell that Taylor really likes her (and never liked Olandria RIP). Iris and Pepe start to explore their connection (30 days in) and it does seem like they are hitting it off. Apparently, Iris tried to leave with TJ but production didn't let her.
If that is true, than that is just so fucked up. You can't just get rid of every strong connection! I feel bad for TJ if this is true, because that man is yearning for her over TikTok. I will say that I do ship Iris and Pepe and I prefer her with Pepe than TJ. Continuing on, Zak and Elan are putting in the WORK with Amaya to stay on the show. Fake! Losers! Go home! Don't use my Amaya Papaya for safety! I think she saw right through them though, and luckily picked Bryan at the recoupling. I like them together, I just hope Bryan is genuine. It seems like he only really started being interested in her after he found out that America loves her. Olandria picks Nic sending Zak and Elan home.
Now let's break down the couples.
Ace & Chelley: Now you may think that these two are the strongest couple, but I highly disagree. Chelley was still throwing Chris a bone in the last episode! She didn't want to close that chapter and she still wanted Chris to want her! I don't think Chelley is fully into it, and I think she just likes the chase. I think Ace is fully into Chelley but I just don't see it from her side. I don't see them lasting for a second on the outside.
Nic & Olandria: As the leader of the Nicolandria Hive, this was an interesting episode. At this point, it just feels so forced. I think Nic never liked Cierra. Sorry, the difference between him with Olandria and him with Cierra are POLAR opposite. He seems so much more smiley and giddy! However, I dont know if Olandria is feeling it with Nic. Them shutting it down in Casa ruined any believability, so everyone is so skeptical now. They were too deep into their other connections, and I think they were scared to make things messy with their friends. I still ship them heavy though, and I voted for them lol. I think Olandria needs to see a different side to Nic and open up more, but it might be too late for that.
Amaya & Bryan: I like them! I hope that Bryan is genuine though. It's just hard for me to believe that he is into her because it just came out of nowhere kinda. Bryan did defend her during the Stand on Business challenge which I LOVED and continued to validate her feelings and actions. I think Bryan understands her in a way that the other guys don't. Amaya deserves to be happy and have a nice man, so I hope that it's Bryan. It's just always sketchy to me when a guy suddenly shows interest after seeing someone was popular in a challenge. Them making out in her mumu was hot as fuck. I predict them to be the winners.
Iris & Pepe: The difference with Iris and Pepe compared to Nic and Olandria is that Pepe and Iris never got to explore their connection. When they first came in as bombshells, I said that they should get together! However, bombshells usually don't couple up so I never thought we would see them together. It's just hard for me to believe because it seemed like Pepe was still yearning for Hannah, and Iris (apparently) wanted to leave with TJ! She was so upset when he left! And now they are just moving on easy peasy. They make a hot couple, and I think they deserve a chance.
Huda & Chris: Will I be stoned in the town square for saying that they may be the strongest couple?? It seems like they are the only couple having deep conversations, talking about their jobs, Huda's daughter, and their families. Chris seems super into Huda because he really didn't give Chelley the time of day when Chelley tried to throw that last bone. He had no interest in being another one of Chelley's side pieces. I am super happy for Huda, and I think she's done a lot of healing and seems super calm. I think Chris keeps her calm and I like their energy together. They are my second place couple.
Clarke & Taylor: I get that we aren't supposed root for Taylor, I get that. If Huda and Chris aren't the strongest, then it's Taylor and Clarke! Taylor obviously really really likes her. He treats her in a way that we never saw with Olandria. Yes, Taylor is an asshole for leading Olandria on but that doesn't mean that Clarke deserves hate. I think that they both really like each other and they could be a couple that lasts outside the villa! I do think they will make it to the final four, and I wish nothing but the best for them. They are my third place couple.
At this point, give the 100K to Amaya and Bryan and end the show.
