Henry Golding & The Barstool Office Answer "What Year & State Was The Cheeseburger Invented?"

I know hot dogs get all the love on July 4th but for my money there's nothing more American than a good ol' fashioned cheeseburger right off the grill. I know Paris agrees with me.

Juicy dripping patties of beef covered in cheese are HOT.

And basically the food version of a red/white/blue bikini.

But despite eating thousands of these beautiful burgers, I really don't know that much about them. What IS the origin story for one of America's most mouth watering creations?

Well after getting told by my bosses that Barstool SPORTS needs more trivia related content from around the office, the stars aligned. Why not spin up something around food history? Now let me be clear, this isn't an attempt to overtake Uncle Chaps on his A+ trivia videos, or Large on his incredible twisted history/food takes, or Glenny Balls on his burger knowledge… it's simply meant to just be digestible #content for the Viva La Food brand.

Nothing more, nothing less.

And nothing but respect for anyone making #content at this great company.

Okay last chance to guess before watching…

What year & state was the cheeseburger invented?

If you guessed Louis Lunch in New Haven, CT 1900 that is… INCORRECT. Although they did start serving a hamburger sammy in 1900, there wasn't a piece of cheese seen on it for decades. And either way, Hamburger Charlie would like to have a word with you in 1885 about who really blazed the trail for that original sandwich.

But if you guessed The Rite Spot in Pasadena, CA 1924 that is… CORRECT. Shout out to 16 year old Lionel Sternberger for creating that pure magic while bored working at his fathers restaurant. I would give you half a kudos bar if you guessed Kaelin's Restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky 1934, the east coast likes to claim that's actually the first official CB. And you could throw Humpty Dumpty Drive-In in Denver, Colorado 1935 as an honorable mention too, they were awarded the first trademark for "cheeseburger". God bless them all.

Most of all though, salute to Henry Golding for stopping by the office and sanctioning our buffoonery. Very well might be the kindest dude in Hollywood and gotta be one of the most famous diehard Stoolies we got out there.

You can check him out on KFC Radio below and also on Netflix this weekend with 'Old Guard 2'… Charlize Theron vs Uma Thurman doing immortal assassin things with a sprinkle of Golding on top? Can't ask for a better time than that.

Take it away Randy!
