We Are One Day Away From The Return Of Oasis And I Can't Wait

In less than 24 hours, Liam and Noel Gallagher will walk on stage together for the first time in almost sixteen years, marking one of the biggest reunions (and moments) in music history: the return of Oasis....and I cannot wait to be there for it.

As a kid born in ’98, I obviously missed out on their heyday - but having a cool older brother has always come in handy in life, and they were one of the many bands introduced to me by him. I knew the big hits like everybody else, but I vividly remember something changing when he told me to check out the music video for ‘D’You Know What I Mean’ - the opening track off ‘Be Here Now’….

Instantly, I thought, “That’s the coolest fucking band I’ve ever seen.”

From rolling in on helicopters with that blockbuster-level production, to the shades and parkas, to the overall vibe (and sound) of the band - I wanted more immediately. Luckily this was right around the time that A24’s ‘Supersonic’ documentary came out, which dives pretty deep into the early Oasis lore and Gallagher sibling rivalry, and that was definitely the spark that lit my fandom on fire. I fell down the rabbit hole HARD from there, listening to every song/B-side/demo they ever recorded, watching every interview, live show, and behind the scenes clips I could get my hands on, getting ‘LIVE FOREVER’ tattoo’d across my collar bone, making Pup Punk start covering Oasis, and even chasing Noel down in Central Park for an autograph after a soundcheck….

….but obviously, because I really got into the band post-breakup, I never got to see them live - which truly devastated me.

I went to a couple Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds shows and even saw Liam Gallagher perform his latest album with John Squire last year and had a great time - but of course, it wasn’t the same. I always dreamed that the brothers would put their past behind them and get back together so that I (along with plenty of other young fans) could one day see them side-by-side again, as Oasis. And I never gave up hope!

Even still, the eternal optimist in me was shocked back in August when the Oasis reunion was officially announced. I couldn’t fucking believe it - and I knew I needed to be at the first show back. I even told Nate as much when we did our breaking news Oasis reunion podcast….

I didn’t care where in the world it was, I just knew we needed to be there to see the reunion with our own eyes. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

I've told the story plenty of times already, so apologies if you've already heard me talk about this, but I was miraculously lucky enough to be about 511th in the ticketing queue for Cardiff Night 1 (opening night of the tour) - and I snagged two for me and Nate right away. I actually tried to get four tickets, but my card was declined/marked for fraudulent activity after trying to spend so much money overseas in the middle of the night - but alas, we were in. Me and the Nate Dawg.

Separately, Dante the Don also scored tickets and told us he'd meet us across the pond come July. Isn't that a motley ass Barstool crew? Robbie Fox, Dante the Don, and Nate walk into a pub….

Here we are, roughly 10 months later - and after counting down every waking second….it's finally (almost) here. I flew to London this morning, met up with Nate at the airport, and took the train to Wales with him for the potential concert of our lifetimes. We hit the fan stores early, spent ungodly amounts of money on tour-exclusive merch….

….took pictures with the "Wonder Wall" portrait made up of 300 bucket hats….

….chopped it up with some locals (and some Stoolies, shoutout to the guys I met from Detroit and Mexico City today), got some fish and chips, and are now settling in and resting up for what is surely to be a dream-come-true day tomorrow. I can't stop thinking about the moment they actually walk onto that stage together to 'Fuckin In The Bushes' as the crowd just goes apeshit. I think grown men (possibly me) are going to be weeping and passing out left and right. Some people were even lined queued up this afternoon just to get the closest GA spots possible, right on the barricade - now that's mad fer it….

I'm not quite that committed, but I've still never been more excited for a concert in my life, and it's only the start of what could be the greatest comeback in rock n' roll history. I've already got tickets to see them again in New Jersey at the end of August, and I'm starting to heavily consider going to their Chicago or Toronto dates as well - what a Summer we have ahead of us.

Just pleeeeaaaase get along tomorrow night, boys. Play nice.

P.S. Slayer/Anthrax are playing a show in Cardiff tonight (ahead of the final Black Sabbath show on Saturday) so there were actually a lot more metal heads than Oasis fans in the area this afternoon, and the show is so loud Nate could hear it blasting through his hotel room. Just a funny tidbit I didn't expect when I got in to Cardiff today.
