Man Of The People: J.J. Spaun Brought His US Open Trophy To A Bar And Let Everyone Chug Out Of It
Yeah, this right here is what you should be doing with a trophy like the US Open. We say it all the time but golf is such an individual game, that it's almost hard to celebrate. Sure, you have your caddie, your coach and a few other people, but with the Stanley Cup it's the whole team going on a bender. You have brothers for life that will go bar hopping with you, have a good time and not feel shit for a month.
So when you win the US Open, especially as a longer shot, you do exactly this. You show up to a bar with the trophy, let fans chug out of it. It's the US Open trophy, you can't hog it. You won it, but you want others to join in. Also hilarious that Spaun has that massive stain on his shirt, buddy was having a good time and I don't blame him one bit. If I were to ever win the US Open, I'd chalk up the rest of the year and just be doing this. I'd show up, collect my money, play in the Ryder Cup, but I'd be on a bender until the season really starts again out in Hawaii. Forget The Open, I already won a major, especially on arguably the hardest course these guys play.
I saw this the other day too. Kisner deserves a chug for the thumbs up:
The dude knows how to read greens. Ain't no hobby. But this is about Spaun and his decision to bring the trophy to the people. We hear about the US Open being a true open and how anyone can qualify. You win that, you celebrate with the people. Just sober up for Bethpage and win us a Ryder Cup.
PS: It really is a great trophy to drink out of
