'We're Not Gonna Take That Kinda Shit' - US Soccer Is Finally Starting To Show Heart, Willing To Fight And Be The Bullies Of CONCACAF
The two major complaints with this version of US soccer is 1) the lack of wins recently and 2) the lack of heart. It doesn't matter who is playing in terms of our big names, the Gold Cup roster, whatever, most of us fans just want to see guys give a shit again. We want to see them be willing to fight and get into the shithousery of CONCACAF. That happened Sunday after Malik Tillman missed a penalty
Costa Rica decides to run its mouth, try to mock Tillman and we actually had a pushing match. I'll take it. I don't care if it's 68-year old Tim Ream leading the way, we need someone who is willing to rile the boys up. We need someone who will step up and take the hard foul. I've said before I miss the guys like a Clint Dempsey, Brian McBride, Oguchi Onyewu or even a Jermaine Jones. Guys who wouldn't take shit, or let anyone on the roster take shit.
I don't care that it's the Gold Cup and our C roster, US Soccer as a whole needed success at this tournament. Got our ass kicked during friendlies, lost in Nations League, Copa America was a disaster, we need something positive. We're getting that, as long as we win tonight against Guatemala. You can't lose to Guatemala, especially when we're not Canada. Give me Mexico in the finals. I want to beat Mexico, preferably dos a cero, the way the game is supposed to be. Right now we need to get back to our roots and that means being the bullies of CONCACAF. Don't let these other teams start shit, get away with the stuff CONCACAF is known for and fight back. So shout out Tim Ream for at least giving this team some heart now.
