Clutch: Amateur Richard Teder Had A Ridiculous Hole Out For Eagle In A Playoff To Become The First Estonian To Ever Qualify For The Open

Balls of steel man. I don't care how far away you are, what hole you're playing, you have a hole-out eagle to qualify for The Open, you earn balls of steel. Not only that, but to do it after you doubled 18 and had to go to a playoff it's even more absurd. I can't imagine the feeling of being a 20-year old and drilling this to make The Open. The first tweet is wrong, this was apparently the 3rd playoff hole.

[Source] - The hole-out. It came on the third playoff hole at West Lancashire Golf Club in England, one of four hosts on Tuesday for final qualifying for the Open, set to be played in two weeks at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. On the hole, three players — Teder, Ronan Mullarney and Sam Bairstow — were playing for one spot, and Teder popped his tee ball 340 yards down the left side of the fairway, leaving him with about an 85-yard second shot. From there, magic. His ball hit the front of the green. It took about five bounces forward. It rolled about 5 feet. In the background, a man shouted, “Get in the hole!” It did, finding the cup’s left side.

Look, you're telling me all I have to do is start telling my ball what to do and it listens? That or have someone in my group say something as simple as get in the hole and it just ... does. That feels like a cheat code, even if you're 85 yards out. Just a simple request and next thing you know you're playing in The Open.

I love The Open too. It still feels weird being the last major of the season and the whole golf schedule seems off. Summer basically just started and we have 1 major, the playoffs and the Ryder Cup left. That's it in terms of notable events. Embrace it, watch as much as you can because soon the day time golf is done.

Back to Teder though, this is the appropriate reaction to this sort of thing. First ever Estonian to qualify and getting the last spot? Yeah, go nuts. He should be allowed to sprint around the course, do whatever he wants, the moment that ball dropped all rules go out the window. Clutch.
