An FDNY Firefighter Was Suspended for Giving "Some Hot Girls" a Ride on His Firetruck

NY Post – The FDNY has disciplined a lieutenant on Ladder 18, which gave “some hot girls” a ride on the rig last week, breaking rules and risking public safety, The Post has learned.

The unidentified lieutenant, the officer responsible for everything that happens on a firetruck, was suspended without pay for five days and transferred, officials said.

“When I learn of behavior that is contrary to the rules and regulations of the Department, I act swiftly and decisively to address it,” Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker told The Post.

No other firefighters on the truck, including the driver, has been disciplined pending an internal FDNY investigation, officials said.

The Bravest landed in trouble after video captured two young women laughing, waving to onlookers, and snapping selfies while hanging out of the truck’s cab window.

That's it. New York City is officially doomed. Of course the minute we get into bed with a pro 9/11 mayor we start cutting the fire department off at the knees. I have half a mind to question whether or not Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker is even anti-fires. Because as any man will tell you, when you're driving a vehicle full of "some hot girls", above all else, there's one thing you're trying to do. You're trying to impress them. And if you're a firefighter, what is the best possible way to impress a vehicle full of hot girls? By putting out a fire. If my apartment caught on fire, I'd be ecstatic to know that the fire truck en route to me had some hot girls in tow. That's one way to assure the fireman will give their A+ effort. They'd probably have my fire extinguished before I even realized I was in danger. If September 11th, 2001 had been Hot Girls Ride Along Day at FDNY, they'd have been on the scene so fast the jet fuel wouldn't even have had time to melt the steel beams.

New York City would be an objectively safer place if each precinct was assigned a group of hot women who were all 50/50 on whether or not they were going to let the firemen have sex with them later. Beyond that, as a boss, you gotta let your employees cash in on the unintended perks of their position every now and again. It's good for morale. Dave Portnoy never begrudges Big Cat when he uses his millions of followers to skull fuck airlines during flight delays. He doesn't suspend Rico Bosco every time he name drops him to secure a last minute table reservation when Arkansas State's equipment managers are in town. He's never said a word to me about trading his phone number for sex.

Obviously the brave members of the FDNY do their jobs first and foremost because they have the courage, the heart, and the desire to be leaders. They felt the call to serve and protect the greatest city in the world. But they also felt the call of hot young trim who have a penchant for strong mustachioed service men. If we're going chastise Engine 15/Ladder 18 for something as trivial as giving some hot girls a ride on their truck, then what else should we be stopping them from doing? Where do we draw the line? Is it also "too distracting" for a group of fireman to play on a full-blown semi-professional hockey team? To travel around the country for a hockey season that culminates in a game verses the NYPD? I mean, technically you could argue that the men who keep our city safe would be better fit to do so if they were less focused on ice hockey. But once a year at the Annual FDNY vs NYPD Charity Hockey Game on Barstool.TV, a sold out crowd at UBS Arena comes together to cheer on NYC's first responders as they square-off in a game of puck. On top of the money raised for charity, there's a sense of pride you feel as a New Yorker, as an American, when you watch our country's heroes compete in Canada's greatest pastime. You can't begin to quantify how much that game means to the city of New York.

The sense of pride people feel when watching the annual FDNY vs NYPD hockey game is the same pride I feel when I see a firefighter in full turnout gear driving his big red truck through the Lower East Side with a half-naked bachelorette party riding shotgun. That's as patriotic as it gets. It's what makes our country great. It reassures me that even in a nation divided, the United States is still the greatest country in the world. Taking some hot girls on a quick joi ride down Essex Street is not "conduct unbecoming of an officer", it's conduct becoming of an American hero.
