Cinema Is BACK Baby! Denis Villeneuve To Direct The Next James Bond Movie
Denis Villeneuve is set to direct the next James Bond film for Amazon MGM Studios, the studio abruptly announced on Wednesday.
This is insanely good news for James Bond, for Amazon and for cinema on a whole. James Bond, despite having way more bad movies under its belt than good, is a fixture in Hollywood and for good reason. He is the archetype for the saying "women want him, men want to be him". Cool, badass and sleek as hell. If you've been following Bond in recent years, you might have heard how the Broccoli family, which has been in charge of Bond since the beginning of the franchise, gave up control to Amazon which bummed a lot of people out both on the supply and demand side of movies. After all, the movies and shows they invest a lot of money into have a pretty shoddy track record. Getting Denis, though, wipes all that away.
Denis Villeneuve is basically 1A 1B with Nolan as far as new age directors. He has never, and I mean NEVER made a bad movie which is insane to think about considering the topics he tackled. 'Dune', 'Blade Runner 2049', 'Sicario', 'Arrival', 'Prisoners' all are among most peoples top movies of the 21st century. And a commonality among those movies is that they all weave pretty complicated plots with some getting deep in the weeds in some form of espionage or another.
Now for the question that is on everyones mind: Who is going to be the new Bond? Here is some food for thought...
I actually blogged about this potential pairing last year when he was allegedly offered the role:
I think ATJ would be a strong fit but, honestly, I'll take anyone now that Denis is on board.
