Chris Richards Saved The USA From Embarrassment, Is Now One Of The Most Important Players We Have Going Into The World Cup

We needed something good to happen for this team, something good finally happened. The US is moving on to the knockout stage at the Gold Cup thanks to Chris Richards and somehow, someway a Berhalter. I can't believe Gregg's kid is out there playing and actually should be in the conversation for making the World Cup roster next year. He knows how to deliver set pieces which is basically a miracle after watching us fuck it up over and over again in the last World Cup.

But, this is about Chris Richards. Chris Richards is one of the best players we have who had a hell of a year at Crystal Palace and is one of the steady faces for the USMNT. He's the guy who we're putting in that center back spot and trying to find his pairing. He also made this play last night:

The dude stepped up. No other way to put it. You can make a case that he's the third most important player to the US right now or third best, however you want to clarify it, with Antonee Robinson and Christian Pulisic. I still can't believe we scored on a set piece. It's something that has destroyed the US for the last few years. We also need to figure out our 9 spot, think it's going to be Pepi's job to lose but the inconsistent play from everyone in that spot is a problem.

Also shout out Diego Luna, that dude has some of the old school feel out there. I know he's not the most skilled when you look at the guys we have, but he's the old school going to play his balls off no matter what. Think he's another guy who played his way into a World Cup roster spot. I don't care if it's the Gold Cup, we needed a win. Things were that bad, we got the two wins with clean sheets and now can focus on winning this damn thing. Shout out Chris Richards.
