Kobe Bryant's Nephew, A 6'5 Five-Star Safety Named Jett, Has Committed To Phil Knight's Oregon Ducks

USC wanted him bad....Alabama wanted him bad....but in the end, isn't this right? Kobe Bryant signed with Nike in 2003, and the relationship lasted until 2021, where he is still a "deeply loved member of the Nike community". I wore Kobe's shoes in high school for basketball, and I stand by that they were and still remain some of the coolest basketball shoes ever released. I know Michael Jordan was and is Nike....but so is Kobe Bryant. So where else would his nephew Jett go than to Phil Knight's precious baby, the Oregon Ducks.

I'll admit it: I like the story. Nike needs to get him in some of the iconic Grinches to play with each week:

But that's about where I end liking this story, because this kid is a fucking monster on the football field. Listed at 6'5 200 pounds and is playing SAFETY? Coming out of legendary QB Tate Martell's school Bishop Gorman, the kid has won multiple state titles, is the #1 player in Nevada, the #18 player in the country, and brings the fucking boom:

Here's a little snippet of the CBS article detailing his commitment that I did NOT enjoy:

Washington trimmed his list to the trio of Oregon, USC and Alabama and took an official visit to each of those schools over the last three weeks. He was initially set to stop at Ohio State, too, but he replaced the Buckeyes visit with a return trip to Oregon.

Well, I guess that's where my fandom of Mr. Jett Wahsington will have to end. Scheduled a visit to Ohio State and CANCELLED on the great Ryan Day? Smh….

All i can say there is what the Buckeyes told the last recruit that famously chose Oregon over the Buckeyes: DON'T GO TO OREGON FOR NO SHOE DEAL!!! (even though I see why Kobe's nephew would)
