Forget Steel, Pittsburgh's Greatest Export Is The McConnell Family

Yeah I know Greenie blogged this, but I don't care. He's sitting at home while I have a Game 7 on Sunday with the NBA title on the line.

Forget Steel, Pittsburgh's greatest export is the McConnell family. Everyday we've got another one of these Yinzers coming out of the wood work, each one better than the last. Last night, it was TJ McConnell's former basketball coach and father. You know your dad is a coach when he comes the NBA TV set to brag about how well you played, while also reminding you that you shouldn't have missed to free throws in the 1st quarter. At the same time, this is the most wholesome shit I've seen in awhile. Mr. McConnell couldn't be more proud of his daughter in the WNBA and his son who will be playing in GAME 7 OF THE NBA FINALS! It's one thing to have your son be on an NBA roster, but to have him be the lovable underdog who is balling out so hard that he gets a deafening cheer from the hometown crowd has to be incredible to witness as a parent.

I don't care if Mr. McConnell was harder on TJ growing up, if he was, I'm thankful that the tough love turned TJ into an absolute DAWG. Sunday night, I need that DAWG off the leash, and every single branch of the McConnell family tree in attendance in OKC. TJ's dad his a hilarious wholesome moment, but TJ's Grandpa still stole the show during this playoff run. Protect the McConnell family at all costs.
