The Dodgers and Padres Need To Cut The Shit And Have a Full Scale Brawl The Next Time They Meet

In case you weren't aware, the Dodgers and Padres have the best going rivalry in baseball. Yankees-Red Sox, Yankees-Mets, and Cubs-Cardinals are dormant these days when it comes to hostility. Their fanbases carry the water of hatred much more than the players do these days. The same cannot be said for the Dodgers and Padres. These players despise one another and we saw it in full display over the last few days in LA.
News flash, no one likes getting hit by baseballs besides maybe Anthony Rizzo. If you're gonna pitch inside, you better do so with control. Controlling the inner half of the plate is a hardy task, but if successfully done you gain a big advantage. Attempt that and fail? You're gonna piss off every body on the other side. Intentional or not, and that depends on which fanbase you ask, Fernando Tatis Jr. was drilled in on the hands last night. This is already the third time he's been hit by Dodger pitching in the 2025 season.
As baseball self policing goes, Ohtani was hit not long after. Whether you agree with that handling of business, that's just how they do things in baseball. Ideally you get plunked in your ass (pause) or in the thigh area. The higher up you go for a beaning the more anger you're gonna stir up. This one could have been lower.
Quick aside —You almost have to respect how MLB's official account will do anything and everything to tweet an Ohtani highlight. 31k likes and 3.5M views speak to why they keep doing this. If you're a fan of peace, this was a great move by Shohei to prevent things from re-escalating. I personally would rather chaos and destruction.
Now keep in mind, Ohtani's HBP came after Dave Roberts removed Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, and Mookie Betts from the game, seemingly knowing retaliation was coming and removing stars that could be on the receiving end. In all, ten hitters have been plunked in the seven games these two teams have played against one another in 2025. It's tough to judge which if any of the Padres HBPs were done intentionally, but it's clear Ohtani's two in the series were for sure. Shildt weighed in here.

Either way, I enjoy the hostility, but I need real punches. I need Dave Roberts and Mike Shildt going blow to blow out there, not Roberts shoving Shildt and running back to hide behind his coaches like the bitch that he is.
It was great to have these two meet in October last year. It only further adds to the great rivalry that's come together over the recent years. But I'm tired of the benches clearing and everyone just yelling at each other.
Sue me, but I want a good ol' fashioned fist fight. A real brawl. They meet again in August and I hope the blood is still boiling by then. Let them fight!
