We Got A Trailer For The Naked Gun Reboot Starring Liam Neeson & Pamela Anderson, And Dare I Say It Looks Pretty Fucking Good
You know what? I'm just gonna come out and say it. Not only was that trailer good, but it is one of the best comedies of the 2020s despite only being two and a half minutes long. Granted I say that as someone that can name about five comedies from the 2020s. But I stand by what I said and not just because it seemingly showed a whole lot of the movie in 150 seconds.
As someone that grew up loving the Naked Gun movies along with the other masterpieces in its ilk that came out in the 80s and 90s, seeing silly shit like that coffee delivery while driving, manslaughter/mans laughter mix up, and take a chair line being taken literally, I feel like the franchise is in the hands of people who understand the spirit of the Naked Guns. I'm not surprised that's the case with Seth McFarlane in the mix, but you never truly know what everything is going to look like until clips start getting released.
I wouldn't have thought that because at first it seemed like Liam Neeson got the role because his name kinda sounds like he could be the son of the legendary Leslie Nielsen. But Liam playing a serious yet clueless Frank Drebin as ridiculous shit happens around him was perfect, as was their handling of the whole "Nordberg may have actually committed a double homicide in real life" thing. I also loved seeing Pam Anderson transition to the "former sexpot that now plays the older woman in comedies" part of his career, even though I didn't see a fake blowjob scene being thrown willy nilly in the trailer. Add it all up, and you get a movie that could not only be a reboot hit but mayyyyyybe convince studios to actually make good comedies again.
Obligatory shout out to the OG.
