Little bit of backstory here of why this mattered more than just making the cut at the US Open and life changing stuff that comes with it: 

Imagine trying to sleep last night knowing you were on the cutline at the US Open? 30 feet at Oakmont. Yeah, that had 3-putt written all over it. It's like how people always say the toughest free throw is the late-game intentional with no one on the line. This is that for golf, just with a lot more stakes involved. No one on the green watching you, like 6 fans sitting around, it's quiet and you had all night to think about this. 

So shout out Philip Barbaree, this is why making the cut matters. I know people tend to focus on the top of the leaderboard but making the cut changes lives and adds a whole lot of money at play for the weekend. If this was my first cut, I'd forget the fist pump and be running around losing my mind. Let the emotion flow for doing something like this, especially when you see the big names who missed the cut.
