Aaron Civale Refused To Be Moved to the Brewers' Bullpen, So They Shipped His Ungrateful Ass to the White Sox
Having compiled a 4.91 ERA in five starts this season, the Milwaukee Brewers announced they would be moving Aaron Civale to the bullpen, where he'd hopefully be more effective. No pitcher wats that to happen, but having a job on a winning team in the Major Leagues is nothing to shake a stick at. Civale, however, is apparently dead set on being a starter, because he immediately told the team he wanted out.
So the Brewers did the funniest thing possible and sent Civale to live out his days on the Chicago White Sox. They even took one of the worst players in baseball in return, just to make sure they were able to send Civale somewhere where he'd really thrive.
Andrew Vaughn is slashing .189/.218/.314 with a -1.6 WAR this season, but he can now claim he was added by a playoff contender — the reasons why aren't important.
Good for the Brewers. I normally say in these situations the most spiteful thing a team can do is tell players like Civale to get bent and have fun pitching in the bullpen, but this guy sucks anyway. Send him to the South Side where he can enjoy his starts in front of dozens of disgruntled fans in a ballpark worse than most in the SEC.
Be careful what you wish for, kids.
