10 Years In The Making: The Dave vs The Dawg $20k Heads Up Match May Finally Be Happening This Summer

June 21, 2016. Think about how much your life has changed since then. Some of you were in diapers. Some of you were dating a whore. Some of you married that whore and are now divorced. It happens. I'm sorry. But my point is, so much has changed since June 21, 2016. However, one thing hasn't changed- Dave ducking our heads up match he challenged me to.

Flash forward to July 17, 2017. Dave AGAIN challenges me, this time laying 5:1. A very fair deal!

He tries to claim that I am demanding all sorts of ridiculous odds, but it was him who offered them to begin with.

Flash forward to May 30, 2024- we agree to $20k each. Ryan Whitney tries to get his own $25k in, which Dave declines.

Flash forward to earlier this week. I begin hearing whispers and rumors through the grapevine that there is a "tentative date for the heads up match". This got me FIRED UP. I could really use an extra $20k, that's for sure. You know how many hookers dates you can go on with $20k???? The once in a lifetime (literally) match may finally be happening!

I will give Dave credit- he knows I'm a heavy favorite which is why he both took away laying me odds and made it a number slightly outside of my comfort zone. I mean $20k for most people, nevermind humble bloggers, is nothing to sneeze at. We're not all 5'5 pizza moguls! But I have BTC, and as they say, what's the point of buying your first BTC at $6,800 if you're not gonna use it to play your boss in a heads up grudge match? It's what Satoshi would have wanted.

To answer the obvious questions- yes, it will be streamed. No, I am not scared. Yes, it is possible Dave wins. I mean it's still poker- you can have all the edge in the world but still get in aces vs kings and a king spikes the flop. But I should win…75/100 times I believe. Maybe 80? We haven't talked about the format but I assume it'll be cash not SnG, 50/100 blinds til someone has it all.

I think it'll be great. I think Barstool has been missing this sort of content recently. Brick by brick, not schtick by schtick is how I was raised.

In the mean time, you can check out this heads up tournament we did at the office. It was our first go at doing an in-house poker show and it went really well for having a negative budget and never having done it before. KenJac did the edit in his free time off work hours and crushed it. We also learned a lot for if we do it again.

Will the Dave vs Nate match finally happen? Your guess is as good as mine, but it looks like it's trending that way. More as I hear it. Namaste.

PS: Thank you to PokerNews for covering this story. Nate "headline maker" Dawg as they call me.
